Gulfstream Park Picks – Thursday, February 4, 2021

| February 3, 2021 2:49 pm PDT

Gulfstream Park’s Thursday fare includes ten maiden, starter, allowance, and claiming races for our wagering enjoyment. I review the three races with the richest purses, discovering underdogs, sleepers, and even longshot moneymakers in the process.

Now, read on for my Gulfstream Park picks and betting tips for Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Picks for Gulfstream Park Race 4

This is a maiden special weight race for fillies and mares four years old and upward, running a distance of one mile for a purse of $47,000.

Lots of all-star talent in the irons for this six-horse maiden race, but there are significant differences in the abilities and skills of their mounts.

My money is on the second-favored (5/2) entry here — Favorite Sin, ridden by Corey Lanerie. This four-year-old filly moneyed two of her five career starts, and she has chalked up some impressive speed numbers, as well as some solid performances in recent workouts.

You might want to lay down a safety wager on a potential sleeper here — the 8/1 Raspberry Ballet, with Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard. This six-year-old mare finished in the money seven of her 14 career starts. I make the recommendation based on Irad Ortiz’s win record, but this mare has proven she’s got the potential. With Ortiz’s assistance, she could easily turn that potential into reality.

  •  Win: Favorite Sin 5/2
  •  Sleeper: Raspberry Ballet 8/1

Pick for Gulfstream Park Race 6

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $47,000.

Race 6 is likely to be the day’s nail-biter, but I am sticking with the 5/2 morning line favorite — Shop Girl, with Luiz Saez in the irons. This filly moneyed both of her career starts, breaking her maiden at Aqueduct for her first run back in November and placing second in the Glitter Woman Stakes (Black Type) at Gulfstream Park last month.

Neither of the two long-odds entries in this short field look likely to finish anywhere near the money.

  •  Win: Shop Girl 5/2

Picks for Gulfstream Park Race 9

This is an allowance optional claiming race for Florida-bred fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $44,000.

I like the 5/2 morning line favorite in this race — Loriloupes, with Emisael Jaramillo aboard. This four-year-old filly finished in the money three of her four career starts, winning two.

And I really have to like the 20/1 longshot in this race — Domineer, ridden by Junior Alvarado — for a value show ticket, if not an across the board wager. This four-year-old filly moneyed eight of her 13 career starts, winning three.

  •  Win: Loriloupes 5/2
  •  Show/Across the Board: Domineer 20/1

My Thursday Predictions for Other Tracks

Gulfstream Park had some outright surprises for us, but I found plenty to like at the two other tracks I reviewed for Thursday:
