Gulfstream Park Picks – Saturday, December 12, 2020

Gulfstream Park makes our Saturday with an 11-race schedule that features one Grade II stakes race, three Grade III stakes, and an ungraded stakes race, so instead of my usual three races, I’m reviewing all five of them for Saturday.

And since we’ve got a lot to cover, let’s move right on to my picks and predictions for Gulfstream Park’s five stakes races on Saturday, December 12, 2020.

This is the Rampart Stakes, a Grade III stakes race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $100,000.

My money is on the 2/1 morning line favorite in this race — Letruska, with ace jockey Emisael Jaramillo in the irons. This four-year-old filly finished in the money 11 of her 14 career starts, winning ten of them.

Longest odds in this race are 10/1 so take this show wager recommendation with a grain of salt: Crumb Bun, ridden by Cristian A. Torres. This four-year-old filly moneyed 14 of her 23 career starts, winning five.

This is Sugar Swirl Stakes, a Grade III stakes race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $100,000.

This could be the tightest race of the day, and I’m buying a win ticket on the second-favored (3/1) entry — Cinnabunny, ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr. This three-year-old filly moneyed five of her six career starts, winning four.

This is the ungraded My Charmer Stakes, a race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on turf for a purse of $75,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/1 morning line favorite here — Lady Lawyer, with Tyler Gaffalione aboard. This four-year-old filly moneyed seven of her nine career starts, winning five.

At 15/1, Piedi Bianchi, with Jose L. Ortiz in the irons, looks like a good value show wager to me. This five-year-old mare finished in the money 14 of her 20 career starts, with six wins.

This is the Harlan’s Holiday Stakes, a Grade III stakes race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles for a purse of $100,000.

My money is on the third-favored (4/1) entry — Tatweej, ridden by Edgard Zayas. This four-year-old colt moneyed all four of his career starts, winning three.

And at 15/1, Identifier, with Jose L. Ortiz aboard, is a solid show ticket. This four-year-old colt moneyed nine of his 15 career starts, winning four.

This is the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes, a Grade II stakes race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/8 miles on turf for a purse of $200,000.

I’m putting my money on the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Halladay, with Luis Saez in the irons. This four-year-old colt finished in the money 12 of his 15 career starts, winning six.

The 20/1 longshot Largent, with Paco Lopez aboard, looks like the perfect show wager. This four-year-old gelding has moneyed every one of his eight career starts, winning five. You might even consider him for an across the board wager, but I’m just recommending the show bet.

With its bushel basket of stakes races, Gulfstream Park delivers a bumper crop of underdogs and surprise moneymakers, but there were plenty of other wagering opportunities at the other two tracks I reviewed for Saturday:
