| August 14, 2020 12:15 am PDT

Gulfstream Park’s thoroughbred racing card for Friday, August 14, 2020 features nine claiming, maiden, and allowance matches.

Friday’s forecast for Hallandale Beach, Florida predicts partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of rain, temperatures in the upper 80s, and winds around 12 mph.

While I cover the three richest races here, you can always find the complete slate of Gulfstream Park races—including entries, and wagering options—at one of our recommended horse racing betting sites.

Post time for the first race on Friday is 12 PM (EDT). Let’s move on to my Gulfstream Park picks, predictions, and tips.

  • Post Time: 1:30 PM
  • Purse: $47,000
  • Distance: 1 mile
  • Conditions: For State Bred Three-Year-Olds And Upward Which Have Never Won A Race Other Than Maiden, Claiming Or Starter Or Which Have Never Won Two Races Or Claiming Price $16,000.

Race 4 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Frank First, S Camacho, 4/1
  • 2 Turn On the Magic, M A Vasquez, 5/1
  • 3 Magnolia Blvd, L Reyes, 10/1
  • 4 No Getting Over Me, E J Zayas, 6/5
  • 5 Dardanellos, M Meneses, 6/1
  • 6 Espresso Caliente, A S Arroyo, 9/2

Race 4 Prediction and Pick

I’m going with the second-favored (4/1) entry here: Frank First, with veteran jockey Samy Camacho in the irons. This three-year-old gelding moneyed in eight of his 13 career starts, with three of them wins. The favorite has a slightly less impressive record, and while he’s piloted by ace jockey Edgardo Zayas, I don’t think that will be enough to bring it home for the favorite.

Race 4 Tip

No long odds worth the risk of your longshot money in this race.

  • Frank First

  • Post Time: 2:34 PM
  • Purse: $33,000
  • Type: CLAIMING
  • Distance: 6 furlongs
  • Conditions: For Fillies Three Years Old.

Race 6 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Let’s Be Honest, SCRATCHED
  • 2 Sayonara Baby, SCRATCHED
  • 3 Lady Archa, L R Reyes, 4/1
  • 4 Kozy Dreams, H I Berrios, 5/1
  • 5 Queen Abarrio, C A Torres, 8/1
  • 6 Bibiana, E Jaramillo, 3/1
  • 7 Solid as a Rock, E J Zayas, 5/2

Race 6 Prediction and Pick

I’m betting on the second-favored (3/1) entry here: Bibliana, with Emisael Jaramillo aboard. This filly finished in the money four of her eight career starts, winning three of them. And Jaramillo is the winningest jockey in this race.

Race 6 Tip

With late scratches, I find no long-odds entries worth the risk.

  • Bibliana

  • Post Time: 3:06 PM
  • Purse: $47,000
  • Distance: 1 mile (turf, rail at 108 feet)

Race 7 Runners and Odds Forecast

  • 1 Vitaemi, C A Torres, 10/1
  • 2 Glorious Gal, R Maragh, 15/1
  • 3 Piece by Peace, M A Vasquez, 10/1
  • 4 Sammie Sunshine (MTO), SCRATCHED
  • 5 Dangerous Curves, J M Rios, 30/1
  • 6 Starship Mallomar, V Lebron, 8/1
  • 7 Champagne Bliss, L Reyes, 5/1
  • 8 Doll Collection, SCRATCHED
  • 9 Meadow Beauty, H I Berrios, 4/1
  • 10 Big Tina, E J Zayas, 5/2

Race 7 Prediction and Pick

With a lackluster field, it’s important not to undervalue the skill of the jockeys, so in this race, I’m sticking with the 5/2 moneyline favorite: Big Tina. This four-year-old filly moneyed in six of her 13 career starts, with two of them wins. Like I said, lackluster.

Race 7 Tip

All the longer-odds entries in this race are long for a reason. Let’s trust the moneyline here and save our risk-money for later.
