Granada vs. Levante – La Liga, November 1, 2020

While Granada is enjoying a wonderful start of the season, Levante is the second-worst team in the Spanish La Liga ahead of Matchday 8. 

These two foes will meet Sunday, November 1, with the kick-off at 12:30 PM ET, and I expect to see a great game at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes in Granada.

The hosts are slight favorites, but the odds tell you enough how tight and unpredictable this matchup should be.

There are identical -108 odds on both teams to score YES or NO, and you won’t see that often. Still, the bookies don’t look for a high-scoring affair even though four of the last five encounters between Granada and Levante produced three or more goals in total.

For the second straight season, Granada is playing above all expectations. The Nasrids finished seventh last term and qualified for the UEFA Europa League, while they are currently sitting at the third spot of the La Liga standings with 13 points and an 8:8 goal difference. 

Since a heavy 6-1 defeat at Atletico Madrid in Matchday 4, Granada is undefeated in six straight outings in all competitions. The Nasrids recorded four wins in that span including a couple of La Liga victories over Sevilla 1-0 at home and Getafe 1-0 on the road.

Last Thursday, Granada played a goalless home draw against PAOK in the Europa League, tallying the third clean sheet in the last four showings.

On the other side, Levante is coming off a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo at home this past Monday. The Frogs have earned only four points with a 6:11 goal difference thus far and are sitting at the 19^th spot of the La Liga standings.

At least, the Frogs snapped a three-game losing streak and scored for the first time since a 3-1 victory at Osasuna in Matchday 3.

Levante will hit the road for the fifth time this season, and the Frogs have dropped three of the previous four along with that nice win in Pamplona. In their previous outing away from home, the Frogs suffered a 2-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao.

Last season, Levante beat Granada 2-1 at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, while the clash at Ciutat de Valencia was finished in a 1-1 stalemate. The previous five encounters between Granada and Levante saw both teams scoring, and I expect that trend to continue this Sunday.

Levante failed to score in its last two showings on the road, but the Frogs have netted in nine of their previous 14 road contests. On the other side, Granada conceded only once in its last six outings at home in all competitions.

The visitors won’t defend in this one, and I expect to see a free-flow game. Granada’s defense has been outstanding lately, especially at home, and I think they will have to start regressing at some point.
