Golden Gate Fields Picks – Friday, October 9, 2020

Golden Gate Fields brings us eight thoroughbred races today, and I take a look at the three richest, finding them devoid of underdog prospects but positively full of long-odds bargain bets.

Read on for my Golden Gate Fields picks and betting tips for Friday’s three richest races.

Picks for Golden Gate Fields Race 3

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of one mile on turf for a purse of $30,000.

For the win, I’m sticking with the 7/5 morning line favorite—Dyn O Mite, ridden by William Antongeorgi III. This colt moneyed three of his five career starts—and he finished a respectable fifth place in both the American Pharaoh Stakes and the Del Mar Futurity (both Grade I).

For a bit of a change, I also like the 8/1 underdog Sooner Than Sooner, with Santos Rivera aboard, for an across-the-board bet. This colt finished in the money for both of his career starts, plus he has the advantage of Rivera’s five-pound apprentice allowance.

  •  Win: Dyn O Mite 7/5
  •  Across the Board: Sooner Than Sooner 8/1

Picks for Golden Gate Fields Race 7

This is an allowance optional claiming race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on all-weather track for a purse of $31,000.

I’m backing the 9/5 favorite in this race, as well—Imperial Creed, with Catalino Martinez aboard. This four-year-old filly finished in the money for seven of her 14 career starts, winning three of them.

And I see you eyeballing that 50/1 longshot. Go ahead—buy a show ticket on Fruitfully, ridden by Cristobal Herrera. This five-year-old mare moneyed 16 of her 22 career starts, winning five of them.

  •  Win: Imperial Creed 9/5
  •  Show: Fruitfully 50/1

Picks for Golden Gate Fields Race 8

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs on the all-weather track for a purse of $31,000.

I’m betting on the 3/1 favorite in this race—Slam Dunk Sermon, ridden by David C. Lopez. This three-year-old gelding finished in the money six of his eight career starts, winning four of them.

At 15/1, try a show bet on Little Cents, ridden by Santos Rivera. This three-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his ten career starts, winning three of them, and as I mentioned earlier, Rivera has that handy five-pound apprentice allowance, not to mention his growing skill as a jockey.

  •  Win: Slam Dunk Sermon 3/1
  •  Show: Little Cents 15/1

Other Horse Racing Predictions for Friday
