Golden Gate Fields Picks – Friday, October 30, 2020

| October 29, 2020 2:40 pm PDT

Golden Gate Fields brings us a solid mix of starter, allowance, maiden, and claiming races for Friday.

Locals who choose to watch the thoroughbred action in person can expect the day to be partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain, highs in the low 70s, and winds around nine mph.

Naturally, you can also find the entire card of Friday’s races at Golden Gate Fields with a visit to one of our recommended online racebooks.

In either case, read on for my Golden Gate Fields picks and betting tips for Friday’s richest races.

Pick for Golden Gate Fields Race 2

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs on the all-weather track for a purse of $33,000.

I have to agree with the morning line and put my money down on the 7/5 favorite, Sadie Bluegrass, with Evin Roman in the irons. This three-year-old filly moneyed eight of her nine career starts, winning six of them.

The longest morning line odds in this race are 10/1, and that just doesn’t show enough of a return to warrant the risk of a show bet.

  • Win: Sadie Bluegrass 7/5

Picks for Golden Gate Fields Race 4

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on turf for a purse of $30,000.

I’m going with the third-favored (4/1) entry here—Arma d’Oro, with Irving Orozco aboard. This colt moneyed one of his two career starts, and shows better performance in recent workouts than his competition.

At 12/1, I like Sooner Than Sooner, with Santos Rivera in the irons. This colt moneyed two of his three career starts, and Rivera brings his skill and a five-pound apprentice allowance to the game.

  • Win: Arma d’Oro 4/1
  • Show: Sooner Than Sooner 12/1

Pick for Golden Gate Fields Race 6

This is a starter allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on turf for a purse of $19,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/1 morning line favorite here–Magical Path, ridden by Frank T. Alvarado. This three-year-old filly moneyed three of her eight career starts, winning two of them—which gives her the best record in this field.

There’s one long-odds entry in this race, and that is not going to happen, so keep your money in your pocket.

  • Win: Magical Path 2/1
