Germany vs. Switzerland – Nations League, October 13, 2020
The Nations League has not been a particular favorite of Joachim Low and his Germany team. But after six attempts it finally won a game at the weekend and will be looking to follow that up with another in Cologne on Tuesday.
Switzerland looked very good in the last installment of this competition but has struggled this season so far and needs a win to stay in contention.
Germany vs. Switzerland Odds
Germany has not been as all-conquering as in the past recently, but BetOnline still sees the home side coming away from this one with three more points to keep in touch with Spain at the top of the group. Switzerland does need a win to have any hopes of doing well but it seems more likely that its Nations League campaign will be over sooner rather than later.
Germany vs. Switzerland Match Preview
It took far longer than expected, but Germany finally won a Nations League game at the weekend and will now look to double that achievement at home against bottom of the group Switzerland. The 2-1 scoreline from that Ukraine game flatters the hosts, as Joachim Low’s side should really have put the game out of sight much earlier on.
After drawing its first two games in the group there is still a lot to be done though – and with only the group winners going through to the finals, Germany will know that it really needs to concentrate in games like this and ultimately defeat Spain in the return fixture at the next international break.
Switzerland is really only playing for pride now after only picking up a solitary point from the first three games. Head coach Vladimir Petkovic will hope that the two remaining home games will give his players some kind of advantage, but that is still far from guaranteed.
In truth, Switzerland should probably have come away with a point from Madrid in its last game. But a simple error from the defenders attempting to play the ball out from the back gifted the hosts the only goal of the game and kept the Swiss rooted to the bottom of the group on just the one point.
Germany vs. Switzerland Betting Pick
Germany to Win-192
Germany should actually have been relegated after a woeful 2018/19 Nations League campaign but the respite it received has given it another chance to compete at the highest level once again. Performances have not been awe-inspiring, but they have at least brought in some goals and points this time around. Switzerland will look to play a tight game on Tuesday but there should be enough attacking talent in the home side to produce a narrow victory.
