Genoa vs. Inter Betting Preview – Serie A, October 24, 2020
After suffering a disaster in Round 2 to Napoli on the road, Genoa managed to keep the net intact in the most recent game, but they also failed to score in a scoreless stalemate against Verona. It was the second game in a row they failed to find the back of the net. Genoa sits in 11th place in Serie A with four points after the opening three games.
Inter is hoping to return to the winning ways after failing to record one for three consecutive games, two in the league, and one in the Champions League (2-2 home draw with Monchengladbach). The latest 2-1 defeat to the city rivals AC Milan was particularly painful, as the Nerazzurri were favorites in that encounter. At the moment, they collected seven points in the first four matches, and are in the 6th position.
Take a look at my Genoa vs. Inter betting prediction and check out the latest news, stats, and H2H record along the way.
Genoa vs. Inter Odds
Genoa Team News and Stats
Following a 4-1 win in their opening home Serie A game, Genoa hasn’t scored a single goal in the next two matches (D1, L1). That doesn’t bring much confidence to their fans, particularly with Genoa losing each of the last four H2H duels to-nil by an average of 4.0 goals and allowing 11+ shots on target in their previous two Serie A games.
Genoa’s 0-0 draw at Verona was their first game after eight straight to produce less than 2.5 goals scored. At home, however, eight of their previous nine matches have produced over 2.5 goals scored.
Rolando Maran cannot count on Petar Brlek (illness), Darian Males (illness), and Stefano Sturaro (muscle).
Inter Team News and Stats
Internazionale lost their first Serie A game in this campaign last time out (W2, D1, L1), with all four featuring both teams score. Fans should expect a quick-fire start, as the opener has been scored before the 15th minute in three of them. Furthermore, three of those four have seen at least two yellow cards in the first 45 minutes.
The visitors have won four (D2) of their previous six Serie A away games, keeping the net intact in three. Curiously, Inter opened the scoring in the first minute in each of its last two road league victories. That guarantees little though, as both teams have scored before the interval in 75% (three) of Inter’s four Serie A games this term.
Antonio Conte will be without Roberto Gagliardini (illness), Achraf Hakimi (illness), Andrei Radu (illness), Alexis Sanchez (muscle), and Matias Vecino (knee). Milan Skriniar and Ashley Young are questionable to feature on Saturday due to an illness.
Genoa vs. Inter Pick
Inter won seven of the previous ten H2H encounters (L3) and each of the last four, keeping the clean sheet in all four. Interestingly, both teams failed to score in each of those ten meetings, so we could have a change of scenario in this one. However, I am not going to back BTTS here, as I am more convinced Inter will get a win after failing to do so in the last three competitive matches in all competitions. They are way better than that, and a win here will put them right back on track.
