Genoa vs. AS Roma – Serie A, November 8, 2020
Coming off a tough 2-1 loss, can Genoa turn things around against the heavily favored AS Roma? That is not going to be an easy task, as Roma enters this contest tied for fifth in Serie A with 11 points, while Genoa is languishing near the bottom of the league with five points.
Roma won the most recent match between these two teams, defeating Genoa 3-1 back in January. This has been a matchup that Roma has dominated, going 8-1-1 in the last 10 matches.

Genoa vs. AS Roma Preview
Genoa suffered a tough loss against Torino in their last match, but they are hurting in more ways than one. The team will be without Cassata, Shomurodov, Sturaro, and Zappacosta against Roma, as each is nursing an injury.
For Genoa to have any chance in this contest they are going to need players like Lukas Lerager to step up. Lerager came in as a substitute in the last match to play center midfield, but could very likely see a more prominent role due to injuries.
Roma is coming off a 2-0 victory and is moving closer toward a Europa League berth. They are facing some injuries as well, as Pastore, Zaniolo, and Santon are all expected to be out, but the starting 11 will be ready to go.
Roma is getting quality play out of Jordan Veretout, who has four goals in six matches. Both Pedro and Edin Dzeko have three goals apiece and Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been setting up plays beautifully, recording four assists. With 13 goals and six matches, Roma is seventh overall in scoring and should have some success finding the back of the net against Genoa.
Genoa vs. AS Roma Pick
Oddsmakers are giving Genoa a minimal chance to win this contest and they are right. Roma is not only the superior team, but injuries are going to be a major issue for Genoa in this match. They would have already had a difficult time winning in this contest, but those odds are virtually nil right now.
I like the scoring punch of AS Roma, but I have been even more impressed with how well they have played defensively of late. They have blanked opponents in each of the last three matches, going 2-0-1 in that span.
Roma should easily dominate this contest. I look for them to earn the victory, 2-0. I’m going with Roma to win by more than a goal, but you could go with the under as well or even combine the two wagers.
