Gangwon vs. Incheon United Betting Preview – K League 1, October 16, 2020

| October 13, 2020 11:46 pm PDT

K League soccer returns on Friday – and so do the fans. Stadiums will be allowed to be 25% full for the first time this season and Gangwon and Incheon United kick off proceedings in round 25.

It’s close down at the bottom of the league but Incheon has to start picking up some points again soon if it is to avoid relegation to the second tier.

Gangwon vs. Incheon United Odds

Gangwon to Win+114
The Draw+230
Incheon United to Win+220

Although this is a must-win game for Incheon United I am still a little surprised that Gangwon is not more fancied by BetOnline here. The home side is far better than anyone else in the relegation group and should probably be odds on favorites to pick up all three points on Friday.

Team Assessments

It was only the last game before the split that condemned Gangwon to the relegation half of the table and it has shown in the last few weeks before the international break just how much better it is than any of the others at the bottom. Two convincing wins against Busan and Seongnam puts Gangwon nine points clear of the drop zone with just three games to play.

Kim Byung-soo’s side is actually five points better off than the sixth-place team at the moment. The easier games have helped with that situation but its position will just remind the Gangwon players how badly they performed in that round 22 game to allow for this series of events to happen.

Incheon United’s players will be hoping that the form of around a month ago is found again as the very real fears of relegation have definitely returned. With just three games to go, it is really only Gangwon that is safe from the drop out of the bottom six – but it is the Black-Blues that are in the deepest danger.

Incheon will be hoping that Stefan Mugosa is available after all. It looked as though the Montenegrin striker would miss the rest of the season because of international commitments and quarantine issues – but now it is not as clear whether he will play or not. He has just picked up the league’s Player of the Month award, so that shows how integral he is to Incheon’s chances of success.

Gangwon vs. Incheon United Betting Pick

  • Gangwon to Win

Even if Mugosa is able to play in this one I fully expect Gangwon to continue its winning ways until the end of the season. By finishing the regular campaign in the bottom half it gave itself five easy games to round things off. It will be of no real joy to the manager and players that more points will be won given those circumstances, but a home win has to be on the cards here.
