Fulham vs. Leeds United – English Premier League, March 19, 2021
With some of the EPL clubs getting a week off, there is an opportunity for the likes of Fulham and Leeds to make up some ground in the table.
The Cottagers could even climb out of the bottom three for the first time since the start of December. But they will need to beat an always interesting Leeds side on Friday to do so.
Fulham vs. Leeds United Odds
There certainly seems to be a feeling that Fulham is going to be able to escape the drop this season, after a run of very impressive performances.
BetOnline even makes Scott Parker’s side the favorite to win here. But Leeds will always give opponents a good game – and if Patrick Bamford is able to overcome his slight knock, the Yorkshire club could be good for a draw or even a win.
Fulham vs. Leeds United Match Preview
Fulham has looked like a completely new team since the turn of the year and has enjoyed some very good results recently, particularly the 1-0 win at Anfield just over a week ago. But the Cottagers were well beaten by Manchester City last weekend, failing to get a single shot on target during the 90 minutes.
That suggests that as much as Scott Parker’s side might be able to somehow escape relegation this season, there is still a gulf in class when it comes up against a really good side at the top of its game.
Leeds might be playing some of the most attractive soccer in the EPL this year, but it is nowhere near the level of Manchester City – and that will give Scott Parker some belief that his team can pull off another positive result on Friday. He will come up against the attractive tactics of Marcelo Bielsa of course, but might be able to find the cracks in the defense that have been evident at times this season.
Leeds did actually manage to keep a rare clean sheet in its last game against Chelsea on Saturday, but has one of the worst defensive records outside of the bottom three. Bielsa will be hoping that Bamford will be fit enough to provide the firepower on Friday – and hopefully score Leeds’ first goal in four games.
Fulham vs. Leeds United Prediction and Pick
Leeds United to Win+179
I think a lot of people will get a little carried away with the way that Fulham has been playing and back the home win here – or maybe go for the larger draw odds. But the comprehensive defeat at the hands of Manchester City showed that there is still a lot of work to be done at the west London club – and if Leeds plays to its potential, there is a good chance of an away win here.
