Fulham vs. Aston Villa – EPL, September 28, 2020
There are 36 games still to go this season but it already looks like Scott Parker’s Fulham is going to struggle back in the top flight.
Aston Villa might also be involved in the lower reaches of the division for the majority of the campaign, but there seems to be greater confidence within the squad than with its London opponents on Monday.
Fulham vs. Aston Villa Odds
Considering the fact that many people are already writing off Fulham’s chances of staying up this season, the BetOnline match result odds for this game are fairly close. Villa is the favorite, but the home side will be desperate to get some points on the board. This could be a close one – and the draw bet might be the best value.
Fulham vs. Aston Villa Match Preview
Fulham already looks like it will have a problem defending against good attacking teams this season, conceding seven goals in two games against Arsenal and Leeds. The positive to take from that last game was that it was able to score three of its own as well. That’s not the greatest tactic to take through the entire season, but it is something for manager Scott Parker to take from the opening games.
The other thing to remember is that although form is the best indicator when it comes to predicting games, there are a whole host of clubs in the EPL who can beat each other on any given weekend. There would be no surprise if either of these two came away with the points on Monday.
Aston Villa has only played one game in the league so far and as much as the win over Sheffield United was encouraging, there is still very little to suggest that the club will not be fighting against relegation once again come the end of the season. But there have been some very good signings – especially goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal – so there might not be so many goals conceded this year.
Bringing in players such as Bertrand Traore up front will also give Dean Smith more of a chance of leading Villa to a safer place in the table this term. Both these sides won against lower league opposition in the EFL Cup in the week as well, so they should be up for this one.
Fulham vs. Aston Villa Betting Pick
Both Fulham and Villa will be looking at this fixture as one it definitely has to win if it is to have a chance of staying up this season. There will be much tougher opponents coming up and it is vital that points are won in the first few weeks. Fulham, in particular, will be determined not to lose a third straight game and I expect the defense to be stronger on Monday, leading to a well-fought draw between these two teams.
