Ferencvaros vs. Barcelona Betting Preview – Champions League, December 2, 2020

Following a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona on Matchday 1, Ferencvaros welcomes the Catalans to the Puskas Arena on Wednesday, December 2.
The Hungarian side sits bottom of Group G with just one single point to their name. At the other end of the standings, Barca has cemented top spot having won each of their four Champions League matches this season.
You can find my Ferencvaros vs. Barcelona prediction and betting pick below.
Ferencvaros vs. Barcelona Odds
The bookmakers view Barcelona (1.37) as the obvious favorite to win this one. After all, Ronald Koeman’s side completely outclassed Ferencvaros (7.25) in their previous meeting.
Given the juicy odds, I would love to make a case for the Hungarians getting something from Wednesday’s match, although it is very difficult to imagine Barca failing to clinch all three points.
Ferencvaros vs. Barcelona Preview
Ferencvaros unexpectedly pushed Juventus all the way last week. Myrto Uzini gave his side the lead midway through the first half, before Cristiano Ronaldo equalized. But despite their best efforts, the Green Eagles conceded in stoppage time, with Alvaro Morata scoring the winner.
The Budapest outfit’s sole Champions League point came on Matchday 2, with a 2-2 draw against Dynamo Kiev coming either side of heavy defeats to Barcelona and Juventus. Serhiy Rebrov’s men can no longer qualify for the Round of 16, but they will still be looking to maintain some pride.
On a brighter note, Ferencvaros remains unbeaten domestically this season. Eight wins and two draws have helped the club to open up a four-point lead at the summit of the Hungarian top-flight, while the team has only conceded four goals across their opening ten league matches.
If the Green Eagles are to get anything from Wednesday’s clash, Tomak Chol Nguen must be at the top of his game. The winger has racked up an impressive tally of 11 goals and four assists in all competitions this term, including a goal and an assist in the UCL.
Barcelona’s domestic struggles have been well documented this season, yet the Champions League has presented the club with a welcome break away from La Liga. The Catalans boast a 100% record in Europe, scoring 13 goals while conceding just twice in four outings.
Koeman’s men may find themselves down in seventh place in the Spain’s top division, but they head into Wednesday’s match on the back of a 4-0 thumping of Osasuna. Antoine Griezmann netted a stunning volley, before Lionel Messi completed the scoring.
It feels like Koeman is finally starting to get the best out of his players. The Dutchman endured a torrid start to his managerial career at Camp Nou, but with players like Griezmann and Messi in his squad, it was only even going to be a matter of time before he started winning games.
With Barca already guaranteed a place in the next round, Koeman may choose to rest a number of key players due to the busy fixture schedule. But whoever plays in Hungary, Barcelona should still be able to claim a comfortable win.
Ferencvaros vs. Barcelona Pick
-
Barcelona to Win1.37
I was seriously impressed with Ferencvaros’ performance against Juventus last week. However, replicating that kind of display against Barcelona won’t be easy.
The Catalans have only lost one of their previous seven games in all competitions. I can’t see them passing up the opportunity to secure a third straight win on Wednesday.
