FC Minsk vs. Gorodeya – Belarusian Premier League, September 11, 2020

There have been several interruptions to the Belarusian Premier League season in the last month or so, for a number of reasons including the Presidential elections and the ensuing protests. But this weekend promises a return to the action.

FC Minsk and Gorodeya kick things off on Friday with both sides looking to pick up a few more points and climb away from the relegation end of the table.

FC Minsk vs. Gorodeya Odds

FC Minsk to Win+102
The Draw+236
Gorodeya to Win+224

With long gaps between games for some clubs, it is sometimes difficult to work out how the break-in momentum can affect the clubs. BetOnline has favored the home team here – which sounds about right to me – but the odds are closer than I would have predicted, so an FC Minsk win bet looks like good value.

FC Minsk vs. Gorodeya Match Preview

It has been an up and down season for FC Minsk, a club that has had to deal with ill health as well as being located at the center of the protests following the election. But a surprising win over title-chasing Neman Grodno was followed up with a morale-boosting cup win – and things look like they may be getting brighter at the capital city club now.

Beating Neman could change the look of the whole season – for both clubs. FC Minsk came back from a goal down to hold a commanding 3-1 lead at the break-in that game and then withstood a late barrage from the visitors to win a very valuable three points. Another victory against Gorodeya – alongside the games in hand – would put Minsk in a very good position.

Gorodeya, on the other hand, is going in the other direction. The cup win against lower league opposition at the end of August will have been welcomed. But there hasn’t been a victory in the league since the middle of July now. With a number of the lower-placed clubs picking up vital points, Gorodeya could end up dropping further.

There is still a slight advantage over Belshina and Smolevichi below but the latter has two games in hand and the Bobruisk club has finally started to win a few games. There are only seven games left of the season after this one, so every fixture is crucial in the battle against relegation.

FC Minsk vs. Gorodeya Prediction and Pick

  • FC Minsk to Win

With so much pressure on both sides not to lose here, the draw bet might be of interest to some – especially with the larger odds – but Gorodeya is a team that is out of sorts at the moment. FC Minsk, for all its injury and health worries, has been able to put together some positive results recently and I think there will be another huge three points won on Friday.
