Matchday 4 of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season will close down Sunday, October 18, with a couple of games on the schedule including the clash between FC Koln and Eintracht Frankfurt at RheinEnergieStadion in Koln.

The hosts are still looking for their first points of the new season after suffering three losses in the previous three rounds. They will be keen to finally get things going, but beating the in-form Eintracht won’t be an easy task.

Eintracht Frankfurt is undefeated this season, tallying a couple of wins and one draw through the first three rounds of the German Bundesliga. Still, I’m not so sure the visitors deserve to be +110 favorites to win, and the bookies might have underestimated FC Koln.

I cannot argue with the bookies when it comes to the totals. Everybody is expecting a high-scoring affair, and two of the last three duels between FC Koln and Eintracht Frankfurt produced exactly six goals in total.

The Billy Goats have already suffered a couple of losses at home. They lost to Hoffenheim 3-2 in the opener, while Borussia Monchengladbach outlasted the Billy Goats 3-1 in Koln in the previous round.

Back in the second week, they visited the newcomers Arminia Bielefeld and lost 1-0.

The head coach Markus Gisdol cannot count on a few players due to injuries, but that’s not an excuse for a terrible start. The Billy Goats desperately need to break out of their funk after failing to win in seven straight outings at home in Bundesliga. They recorded four losses and three draws in that span.

On the other side, the Eagles are playing very well at the start of the new season. They disappointed with a 1-1 draw against Arminia in the opener, but Eintracht Frankfurt beat Hertha 3-1 on the road and Hoffenheim 2-1 at home in the previous two rounds.

Strikers Bas Dost and Andre Silva are leading the way for the Eagles, combining for four goals and three assists. Winger Filip Kostic will miss Sunday’s clash due to a foot injury, while all other players are ready to go.

The Billy Goats will have to make amends for a tough loss to their arch-rivals Monchengladbach in the previous round. Their fans demand satisfaction, so I expect to see the hosts attacking out of the gate.

On the other side, the Eagles won’t just sit back and defend. Eintracht Frankfurt loves to play attacking soccer, and with a pair of excellent strikers in Dost and Silva, I would be surprised if the visitors fail to find the net at RheinEnergieStadion.

Therefore, I’m backing both teams to score along with the over 2.5 goals in total. Neither side would be satisfied with a draw, and most of the German Bundesliga teams, including these two, will always look to score more than their rivals.

Last season, the Billy Goats and Eagles played a 1-1 draw in Koln, while Eintracht suffered a heavy 4-2 home loss in their second encounter this past June.
