FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids Pick – MLS, August 26, 2020

FC Dallas welcomes Colorado to Toyota Stadium on Wednesday, August 26, with both teams battling at the bottom end of the Western Conference. The Rapids crashed out of the MLS is Back Tournament at the group stage, while the Toros were forced to withdraw from the competition altogether, so both sides will desperate to claim all three points this week.
You can find my FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids prediction and betting pick below.
FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids Betting Odds
As things stand, Colorado has played a game more than Dallas. The Rapids currently sit one point ahead of the Toros, although neither team has been able to discover a decent run of form this year. It could be argued that Dallas deserves the favorite tag in this matchup, but I’m seriously shocked at the sky-high price for the away win. Even the odds for the draw look very appealing.
FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids Preview
Things were looking up for Dallas after the club picked up a win and a draw from their opening two games this year. However, when the shutdown struck, the Toros’ momentum was halted. Luchi Gonzalez’s side has played three games post-lockdown, but the Texas team has only managed to add one point to their tally in that time.
Conceding goals hasn’t been a problem. In fact, Dallas boasts the best defensive record in the Western Conference. But Gonzelez’s men are the lowest scorers in the division. Czech forward Zdenek Ondrasek has contributed two goals this term, with youngsters Paxton Pomykal and Ricardo Pepi the only other players to get on the scoresheet.
By contrast, Colorado has one of the poorest defensive records in the league. The Rapids are yet to keep a clean sheet in 2020 and have conceded at least two goals in five of their six outings this year. Defeats to Real Salt Lake and Sporting KC, along with a draw against Minnesota United, saw the Commerce City club finish bottom of Group D at the MLS is Back Tournament.
The Rapids kicked off the regular season with successive 2-1 victories over DC United and Orlando City, but the team failed to build on their strong start in Florida last month. Still, there is a sense that Colorado is somewhat underachieving at the moment. It feels like Robin Fraser’s side is close to returning to winning ways, so a trip to Dallas could be exactly what the team needs.
FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids Prediction and Pick
-
The Draw3.40
Quite frankly, this one could go either way. Both teams will be eager to secure maximum points on Wednesday, but the managers are likely to set up their teams to avoid defeat. Neither side can afford to lose this game and fall further down the standings, so I think the draw is the way to go here.
