FC Cincinnati vs. New England Revolution – MLS, May 29, 2021

| May 28, 2021 5:55 am PDT

It’s top against bottom in the MLS Eastern Conference this weekend, with first-place New England visiting Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium on Saturday, May 29.

With a record of 4-2-1, the Revs find themselves two points clear at the summit. Cincy (1-1-3) sits on four points – ten points behind New England at the other end of the standings.

Although Jaap Stam’s men have played two games less than New England, they have already conceded 14 goals this year. So, can the high-scoring Revs take advantage of Cincy’s leaky backline?

If you’re looking for my FC Cincinnati vs. New England Revolution prediction and betting pick, I suggest you read on.

Cincinnati vs. New England Odds

FC Cincinnati to Win3.75
The Draw3.70
New England Revolution to Win1.90

In all honesty, I’m surprised the New England win is almost at 2.00. Yes, Cincinnati picked up their first win of the season last weekend. But the East’s bottom club has endured a dreadful start to the campaign.

By contrast, the Revs have only lost one of their seven matches and already hold a sizeable lead over the Ohio outfit. As usual, it won’t be easy to go against the best sports betting sites here.

FC Cincinnati vs. Revs Match Preview

Following four failed attempts, Cincinnati finally secured their first win of the year last time out. Dorde Mihailovic gave Montreal the lead, but goals from Jurgen Locadia and Gustavo Vallecilla handed the strugglers a much-needed victory.

The Orange & Blue registered an impressive 2-2 draw with Nashville on the opening weekend. However, three straight losses quickly followed.

Defeats to New York City (5-0), Orlando (3-0), and Inter Miami (3-2) saw Cincy concede 11 goals in the space of three games, so it is hardly surprising that Stam’s side has the worst defensive record in the East.

Six different players have netted for Cincy in 2021, yet nobody has scored more than once. If Stam’s men want to move away from the foot of the standings, they will need to start finding the back of the net more often.

On the topic of scoring goals, let’s talk about the Revs. Only one team in the East – NYCFC – has netted more goals than Bruce Arena’s men season, and that is the main reason they find themselves at the top of the table.

Taking a closer look; Adam Buksa has scored three goals, Gustavo Bou has bagged two goals and one assist, Carles Gil has chalked up one goal, and two assists—Oh, and Tajon Buchanan opened his account last weekend.

The Revs produced a totally dominant disapply to see off the Red Bulls 3-1 last time out, recording 23 shots (11 on target) while bossing possession.

Prior to last weekend’s crushing of RBNY, Arena’s men had already beaten DC United, Atlanta, and Columbus this year. When you throw draws with Chicago and Philly into the mix, it is difficult to imagine New England slipping up against Cincy.

Cincinnati vs. New England Prediction and Pick

  • New England Revolution to Win

In my eyes, the tasty price for the away win is just too good to miss here.

Cincinnati may have beaten Montreal last weekend. But let’s face it – Stam’s men have arguably been the worst team in the East this year, and their defensive record backs up that theory.

Following back-to-back wins over Columbus and RBNY, I’m backing the Revs to assert their authority over Cincy and add a further three points to their ever-growing tally this weekend.
