Fair Grounds Race Course Picks – Thursday, March 4, 2021
Fair Grounds Race Course’s ten-race schedule presents us with a full range of maiden, allowance, and claiming races for Thursday.
I review the three richest races here, but you can find the entire ten-race card for Thursday at Fair Grounds at one of our best horse racing betting sites.
Read on for my Fair Grounds Race Course picks and tips for Thursday, March 4, 2021.
Fair Grounds Race Course Pick for Race 5
This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-old fillies running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs on turf for a purse of $51,000.
My money is on the fourth-favored (5/1) entry here — Inajiffy, with Gabriel Saez in the irons. This filly moneyed her single career start, breaking her maiden at Fair Grounds in mid-January.
The longest odds in this eight-horse race are 8/1, so no recommendation for a value show ticket here. And no, neither of those 8/1 entries are sleepers.
- Win: Inajiffy 5/1
Fair Grounds Race Course Picks for Race 8
This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds running a distance of six-furlong for a purse of $55,000.
I agree with the morning line here, and my win ticket is for the 5/2 favorite — Tulane Tryst, with Gabriel Saez aboard. This colt moneyed his single career start with a second-place finish at Fair Grounds in late January. He has also performed well in his recent workouts.
If there’s a sleeper in this race, it’s the 8/1 Gulfstream Way, ridden by Roberto Morales. This gelding has no starting record but has performed exceptionally well in recent workouts.
I see no longer-odds entries in this race that could show up at the finish line in time for payday.
- Win: Tulane Tryst 5/2
- Sleeper: Gulfstream Way 8/1
Fair Grounds Race Course Picks for Race 9
This is an allowance optional claiming race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of about one mile on turf for a purse of $52,000.
I like the second-favored (5/1) entry here — Raven’s Cry, ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan. This four-year-old filly moneyed four of her seven career starts, including a third-place finish in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Salsabil Stakes at Navan Racecourse near Dublin, Ireland.
The morning line has nearly half the entries in this turf race at 8/1, but I don’t see any likely to sneak a win past Raven’s Cry.
I do see a value show bet in this race, though — the 15/1 entry Stop War, with Adam Beschizza in the irons. This four-year-old filly moneyed five of her nine career starts, winning two.
- Win: Raven’s Cry 5/1
- Show: Stop War 15/1
