Fair Grounds Race Course Picks – Friday, December 18, 2020

Fair Grounds Race Course’s Friday schedule features ten maiden, allowance, and claiming matches for our betting and cheering entertainment.
Read on for my Fair Grounds Race Course picks and tips for Friday, December 18, 2020.
Fair Grounds Race Course Pick for Race 7
This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $47,000.
I like the first half of the coupled entry — Carbis Bay, with Angel Suarez in the irons. This filly finished in the money one of her two career starts, which puts her ahead of the rest of this eight-horse field. The morning line has the coupled entry at 7/2.
I even think the second half of the couple entry — Divine Comedy, with veteran jockey Florent Geroux aboard — has a shot, so betting the coupled entry is the way to go here. For the record, Divine Comedy failed to money in her single career start, but she has shown better performance in recent workouts than most of her competition.
I don’t see any longer-odds entries in this race worth risking a show bet.
- Win: Carbis Bay 7/2
Fair Grounds Race Course Pick for Race 8
This is an allowance race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $48,000.
I’m sticking with the morning line’s 7/5 favorite here — Sun Path, with Florent Geroux in the irons. This filly moneyed both of her career starts, winning one. She has the best speed figures in this field.
None of the longer-odds entries in this race are likely to finish anywhere near the money.
- Win: Sun Path 7/5
Fair Grounds Race Course Pick for Race 10
This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/6 miles for a purse of $49,000.
The 5/2 morning line favorite — Enforceable, ridden by Adam Beschizza — may have some serious competition in this race, but it won’t be anything he hasn’t seen before.
While a couple of his competitors have statistically superior numbers, Enforceable has moneyed in three graded stakes races in his short career; one of his two wins was the Lecomte Stakes (Grade III) at Fair Grounds in January 2020. For the record, this three-year-old colt moneyed six of his 12 career starts, winning two.
The longest odds in this race are 8/1, so of course, I have no long-odds value show wager to recommend.
- Win: Enforceable 5/2
