Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Pick – Friday, September 4th, 2020

| September 4, 2020 2:06 am PDT

After securing three titles in a row, Evil Geniuses start their ESL Pro League Season 12 campaign with a bout against 100 Thieves.

The Australians have had a couple of very successful outings against EG since the turn of the year, however, they will need something special to stop the Americans in their current form.

In this post, I take a look at the current betting prices for the game and share an account of both teams’ most recent exploits.

My prediction and a free Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves betting pick await you in the end, so make sure you stick around!

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Odds

The odds below are taken from SportsBetting.ag and here is what their sportsbook has on offer for the tie:

Match Winner

Evil Geniuses -312
100 Thieves +228

Map Advantage

Evil Geniuses (-1.5) +103
100 Thieves (+1.5) -132

Total Maps Played

Over 2.5 +133
Under 2.5 -172

I am not at all surprised by the odds as The Geniuses have established themselves as one of the most dominant sides on the current CS:GO scene.

So, can 100 Thieves pull a huge upset here?

Their prospects are not looking great but let’s go through my analysis of both teams and see what would be the best way to approach the betting angle.

Evil Geniuses

EG has been on an absolute roll and it seems the hiatus has done nothing to thwart their form.

They managed to clinch both the BLAST Premier and cs_summit 6 titles prior to the break and picked up where they left off at the recent ESL One: Cologne event.

Clean sweeps against Triumph, FURIA, and Team Liquid got them through to the Final, where they edged Liquid again in a thrilling five-round matchup.

Stewie2K and his team did test their nerves right until the end but The Geniuses’ decisiveness and brilliant execution saw them come out victorious once again.

The run has propelled them to 3rd post in the current world rankings and they are now sitting on an eleven-game winning streak.

Every piece on the roster is locked in at the moment which is a scary prospect for their opponents since EG seems to be able to always find the resources to win even if a player is having a bit of an off day.

100 Thieves

The Australian organization has been flirting with the Top 10 for a while but their performances since the restart have seen them slip down to 15th place.

Their only win in the last five outings came against Gen.G in a game that could’ve easily gone either way if there weren’t some uncharacteristic mistakes from captain daps and his crew.

Players jkaem and jks have been able to provide some fuel in recent matchups against FURIA and Liquid but the team needs a bit more edge in the rounds’ closing stages if they want to get back on the right track.

The ESL Pro League offers a new opportunity for them to prove they are still part of the elite but a game against the high-flying Evil Geniuses may prove to be too big an obstacle for them to handle right now.

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Prediction and Betting Pick

The Geniuses look unstoppable at present and even if their main gunmen CeRq and Brehze have a below-par performance, players tarik and Ethan look ready to step up at any moment.

Captain stanislaw has continued his improvement as an in-game leader and has added additional killing capacity to his game and it’s no wonder that the team is currently decimating any opponent that comes their way.

The Thieves are looking a bit deflated and although they are always ready for a fight, I just can’t see them staging any kind of meaningful resistance here.

Given the circumstances, I feel the odds of +103 for an EG handicap win are quite the steal, so that’s what I’m going with here.

  • Evil Geniuses (-1.5)
