Everton vs. West Ham United – EPL, January 1, 2020
Without any kind of winter break, the EPL never seems to go away. But this is the first top-flight game of 2021 – and both Everton and West Ham will want to get off on the right foot.
Both clubs have enjoyed a good start to the season but will know that the positive results need to keep on coming for it to turn into a successful campaign.
Everton vs. West Ham United Odds
Carlo Ancelotti can consider himself very happy with the way the opening few months of the season have gone for his Everton side. Although there was a dip in form in November, results have recently picked up – and this should be another three points for the home side. West Ham has improved as well, though, so the draw bet might be worth looking at.
Everton vs. West Ham United Match Preview
There was a sense of frustration surrounding Everton when its game against Manchester City was called off just hours before the scheduled kick-off. An outbreak of positive COVID results in Pep Guardiola’s team forced the fixture to be postponed. That meant Everton could not finish 2020 any higher than 4th in the table.
Ancelotti does have injury problems of his own, though. Both James Rodriguez and Allan will probably miss this game on New Year’s Day, but Richarlison may be able to be involved in the squad after missing the victory over Sheffield United. There is a good feeling throughout the club, though – and a win to see in 2021 would be a great way to continue.
Spirits have also been boosted at West Ham over the last few months. November was an excellent time for the Hammers, as David Moyes’ side won three in a row. December saw a frustrating number of draws slow down the climb up the table – but the good news is that Michail Antonio is now fit and raring to go again.
Sebastien Haller had started to score a few goals after making a very slow start at the club, but Antonio’s presence was definitely missed. West Ham probably should have beaten Southampton last time out, but was made to work hard for the point – and there was a definite improvement after the poor first-half performance against Brighton in the game previously.
Everton vs. West Ham United Betting Pick
Everton to Win-111
The postponement of the City fixture temporarily suspended an unbeaten run for Everton that had extended to five games – with the last four of those ending in victories. A home game to start the year off now seems like a good opportunity to keep that winning streak going. West Ham will put up a good fight, but the home side should be the ones taking the points.
