Everton vs. Southampton Odds, Prediction and Pick – English Premier League, March 1

| March 1, 2021 5:16 am PDT

The final game of this round of EPL fixtures comes from Goodison Park on Monday when Everton takes on Southampton.

The home side will still be buoyant after finally beating its old rivals Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, while Southampton will be hoping that this is the week it ends a terrible run of form that has seen it win just one game this calendar year.

Everton vs. Southampton Latest Odds

Everton to Win+119
The Draw+230
Southampton to Win+230

Everton might not be as all conquering as it was in the opening weeks of the season, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side will still have European ambitions and beat the champions last weekend. So I am surprised how close these odds from BetOnline are. I would have expected the Toffees to be odds on to win and Southampton’s price to be much longer. This makes the home win bet a real no brainer in my opinion.

Everton vs. Southampton Match Preview

Everton had struggled in February, winning just once and losing two in a row before the big Merseyside derby last Saturday. But all that will be forgotten now as the blue half of Liverpool will still be celebrating a famous victory that extends Jurgen Klopp’s woes and gives a real boost to Everton’s hopes of European qualification – and even a top four finish.

Richarlison did well in that game against Liverpool, but it looks as though Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be back to full fitness for the game on Monday – and it will be the England striker that leads the line. Midfielder Allan should also be ready for a recall, so Ancelotti will need to make space for his best players.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has selected countless different starting elevens in the last few months in a vain hope of reclaiming the form that Southampton was showing earlier in the season. The Saints had looked like they would be making a play for a Europa League spot, but have fallen away dramatically – and understandably lost a lot of confidence after that 9-0 mauling at the hands of Manchester United.

It would not have been a surprise if Hasenhuttl had been shown the door after that embarrassing result. But the club stood by the Austrian manager last time his team did so badly and was rewarded with an upturn in fortune. It looks as though he will get a chance for that to happen once again this season – but getting anything from a trip to Goodison Park is a tough ask.

Everton vs. Southampton Prediction and Pick

  • Everton to Win

With Calvert-Lewin back in the team, Everton has a very good chance of challenging for at least a Europa League place now – and an exhausted Southampton looks like the perfect opponent to pick up three more points towards that cause. The Toffees should be on the top of their game after the derby win and the odds offered for a home win seem just too good to turn down.
