Everton vs. Brighton and Hove Albion – EPL, October 3, 2020

| September 30, 2020 4:45 am PDT

Surely the wheels will come off at Everton at some point soon? The Toffees have started the season in excellent form, winning all three of their opening fixtures.

Brighton is next up for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this Saturday – and the Seagulls will probably still be angry about how they conceded the final goal against Manchester United last weekend after the final whistle had been blown.

Everton vs. Brighton Odds

Everton to Win -135
The Draw +255
Brighton and Hove Albion to Win +370

It is difficult to bet against Everton at the moment and BetOnline has stayed fairly conservative about Brighton’s chances of coming away from Goodison Park with all three points. I would have expected the odds to be much larger for an away victory here. The price for the home win is actually not that off-putting.

Everton vs. Brighton Match Preview

There was a lot of buzz around the blue half of Liverpool before the season kicked off, largely due to the imminent arrival of James Rodriguez. But the three games played so far have been even better than imagined if anything. The entire team is stepping up and looking like it could possibly compete this season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has shone in particular. His five goals in three games have led Everton to glory, even if he is not getting as many touches of the ball thanks to his more central position this year. Richarlison has moved out wide – and the tactic is definitely working so far.

Brighton manager Graham Potter will need to work out a way to stop Everton’s rampaging attacking moves. But he does have the very talented Tariq Lamptey to help him with that one. The youngster has started the season so brightly that Bayern Munich has apparently already made an approach to take him to the Bundesliga.

Potter will want to put that off as long as possible but his defense is likely to be very busy this Saturday, whoever is playing. Brighton has already conceded six goals this season and there are sure to be more against Everton. The stoppage time winner from Manchester United last weekend will have hurt and it will be interesting to see how the players come back from that disappointment.

Everton vs. Brighton Prediction and Pick

  • Everton to Win

Graham Potter is an incredibly intelligent and innovative manager who seems a very good fit with Brighton. But he has his work cut out this weekend. Everton has started the season better than any in recent memory and will be expecting to claim a fourth straight victory on Saturday.
