Picks and Predictions for Europa League Quarterfinals on April 7, 2022

| April 6, 2022 5:18 am PDT

I’ve decided to share with you my Europa League quarterfinals prediction because all four matchups scheduled for Thursday seem super-fun. Being exciting to watch is not their only advantage – these quarterfinal games also come with a lot of value for bettors.

The fact that the biggest favorite in these four matchups (Barcelona) is priced at 1.67 shows that there’s a lot of money to be made through Europa League betting.

Betting Odds for Europa League Quarterfinals for April 7, 2022

  • RB Leipzig (1.77), Draw (3.75), Atalanta (4.00)
  • Braga (2.30), Draw (3.20), Rangers (3.00)
  • West Ham (2.05), Draw (3.30), Lyon (3.40)
  • Eintracht Frankfurt (4.33), Draw (4.00), Barcelona (1.67)

The odds you see in the list above are courtesy of Betway Sportsbook. Its oddsmakers obviously believe we’re going to see real thrillers on Thursday.

With 1.67 odds, Barcelona is expected to beat Eintracht in Frankfurt. This fact makes Barça the only Europa League team that’s favored to win on the road in Leg 1. That’s no surprise as Barcelona is the #1 favorite to win the Europa League title. Bookmakers are giving 2.75 on that scenario playing out.

In the other three games of the first leg of the UEL quarterfinals, home teams are seen as favorites. However, their odds aren’t too short, suggesting a surprise (or surprises) might happen on Thursday.

Europa League Predictions for Thursday

  • RB Leipzig and Atalanta to Draw
  • Braga and Rangers to Draw
  • West Ham and Lyon to Draw
  • Barcelona to Beat Eintracht Frankfurt

As this is Leg 1 of the Europa League quarterfinal phase, winning is not a priority for most teams. After all, just seven days later (April 14), they will play again. That said, I expect them to go with a more cautious strategy than usual.

In some cases, however, being cautious doesn’t mean giving up on the offense. For instance, I think RB Leipzig is likely to score, and so is Atalanta.

Braga will also try to take advantage of home support by putting Rangers on the back foot. However, Glaswegians are fantastic in the counterattack, meaning that they could fight back.

It’s a similar story when it comes to the West Ham vs. Lyon game, in which a draw seems very likely. The Hammers will be the ones to attack more, but Les Gones have enough talent to repel them.

However, when it comes to the clash between Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt, I think Xavi’s boys will win. Barça does have some injury woes, but these guys have been in terrific form lately, with four straight wins. One of those was a 4-0 win against mighty Real Madrid.

The blowout win over Real Madrid happened just 18 days ago. Since then, Barça has also defeated Sevilla 1-0. I believe these guys can add another victory to the tally.

That’s why my Europa League banker bet for Thursday is Barcelona. The odds of 1.66 might not be too attractive for some bettors, but worry not, I got some alternatives for you.

If you’d like to see some more lucrative bets for Leg 1 duels of the Europa League quarterfinal, the next chapter is for you.

Top Europa League Quarterfinal Picks for April 7

RB Leipzig vs. Atalanta – Over 3.5 Goals2.60
Braga vs. Rangers – Both Teams to Score1.80
West Ham vs. Lyon – Under 2.5 Goals1.85
Barcelona to Win to Nil3.30

I think we’ll see a lot of goals in the RB Leipzig vs. Atalanta game. Why? Because the German team scored four goals in its previous game. It happened last Saturday when they beat Dortmund 4-1 on the road.

On Tuesday, they might not win but I can see them scoring at least twice. I can see Atalanta doing the same, which explains why my pick is four or more goals.

I also think we will see (at least) two goals in the Braga vs. Rangers game, one on each side. Braga is famously good at home, while Rangers has been great in the Europa League this season. The Scottish team has scored at least a goal in every game in this competition since September.

The same scenario shouldn’t happen in the game between West Ham and Lyon. I think both will be focused more on defending than attacking.

Plus, neither team has been too impressive scoring-wise in 2022. For instance, West Ham hasn’t scored more than two goals in a game since New Year’s Day.

Another team that I think won’t find the net on Thursday is Eintracht Frankfurt. The main reason is that Barcelona players will be the ones with the ball in their possession for most of the game.

Another reason why I think Barça will keep a clean sheet is that Eintracht has scored just one goal in its previous three games.

There you have it – my best Europa League bets for Thursday’s quarterfinal games. If you agree with me, why not put some money on them at one of the soccer betting sites with our stamp of approval?

You can place those bets as singles, but if you feel more adventurous, you can put them all in a parlay. In that case, the total odds would be 28.57. I say that’s worth a try!
