Best EuroLeague Picks for Round 5 Games on Thursday, October 21

| October 20, 2021 7:33 am PDT

It’s time for a brand-new round of the EuroLeague. Round 5 kicks off with five games on Thursday, October 21.

If you’re planning to bet on EuroLeague Round 3, you’re at the right place. I will now present you with my predictions for Thursday’s games.

Let’s start with my banker of the round!

Anadolu Efes to Beat UNICS Kazan

If there’s a bet that must win, it’s this one. Anadolu Efes just have to beat UNICS and end their four-game losing streak.

Yep, you’ve read it right – the reigning EuroLeague champion is still without a single win in the 2021-22 season.

So, what’s going on with them?

Although their form is far from good, the real reason behind Efes’ poor performances is that their EuroLeague schedule has been really ugly.

So far, the Turkish team has played (and lost) against the following teams:

  • Real Madrid (on the road)
  • CSKA Moscow (home)
  • Lyon (on the road)
  • Olimpia Milano (on the road)

In Round 5, they’re locking horns with UNICS Kazan, a team that’s much weaker than those in the list above.

Furthermore, the game is played at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, where about 15,000 fans will be rooting for the hosts.

What about the player quality, do the Efes players have what it takes to beat UNICS? Do they? Of course, they do – this is one of Europe’s best teams.

Not only that, but Efes also has a fantastic coach in Ergin Ataman, who’s the recipient of the EuroLeague Coach of the Year award for the last season.

Olimpia Milano to Beat Lyon

The club owned by fashion designer Giorgio Armani is squaring off with a team owned by NBA legend Tony Parker, who will win?

The Italian team is currently on an eight-game winning streak and I think they will add another game to the list.

Not only does Olimpia have a better roster than Lyon, but they also have a better coach. Actually, Ettore Messina might be the best coach in the EuroLeague at the moment.

This is the man who led Olimpia to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021, thus ending a 29-year wait. What’s most impressive about it is that he didn’t have too many elite players at his disposal last season.

However, this year, Messina does have some really amazing players on the team.

Some of the guys who have arrived in Milano this summer have already turned into key players for Olimpia – Devon Hall, Konstantinos Mitoglou, and others.

These guys were brilliant in the game against Anadolu Efes last week, which Olimpia won 75-71.

The Round 4 game with Efes was their arguably toughest challenge in the 2021-22 season. In Round 5, they’re facing a much easier task.

Lyon does have a 2-1 record against Olimpia in the EuroLeague. However, those two wins happened in France, while Olimpia won the one played in Italy.

I can see the Italians setting the record straight on Thursday.

Real Madrid to Beat Fenerbahce

Los Blancos are 3-1 in the EuroLeague this season, with all of their three wins happening in Spain. Their next opponent is 2-2, with both of Fenerbahce’s losses happening on the road.

Will the same trend continue for another game? I think it will…

It’s not just because Real Madrid is great at home (and Fener is poor in away games); it’s also because the Spanish team has a fantastic roster.

Real Madrid is the highest-scoring team in the EuroLeague in the 2021-22 season, with 332 points in four games. What’s strange is that Los Blancos used to be famous for their defense, not their offense.

Real Madrid’s best player, Walter “Edy” Tavares won the EuroLeague Best Defender award last season. It was his second award, with the first one happening two years earlier.

That said, I can only expect Real Madrid to continue playing well offensively, while also improving on their defensive stats. If this happens, the visitors from Turkey are in for a disaster.

Predictions for the Other Two EuroLeague Games on Thursday

  • Bayern Munich to Beat Zalgiris
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv to Beat Panathinaikos

These two games seem very tricky. Bayern Munich has better players than Zalgiris, but the game is played in Lithuania. That’s where Bayern won only once in this century.

When it comes to the clash taking place in Israel, I think Maccabi will win it. However, this team has already lost a couple of games they really should’ve won, e.g., the one against Crvena Zvezda at home in Round 2 of the EuroLeague.

Best EuroLeague Bets for Thursday, October 21

Anadolu Efes (-12.5) Against UNICS Kazan1.95
Olimpia Milano (-8.5) Against Lyon1.91
Real Madrid (-6.5) Against Fenerbahce1.90

Not only do I think the favorites will win on Thursday, but I also think they’re going to do it in style. What I mean by this is that all three teams should cover the spread.

These bets are very sure in my opinion and they all come with pretty decent odds, especially if you bet at SportsBetting.ag.

This sportsbook will also let you to parlay those three bets, in which case, the total odds would be around 7.07.
