EuroLeague Round 24 Picks – Betting Tips for Wednesday, February 2
Round 24 of the EuroLeague brings us three games on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, and I’m going to preview them all. The games in question are the following:
- CSKA Moscow vs. Anadolu Efes
- Alba Berlin vs. UNICS Kazan
- Real Madrid vs. Olympiacos
I will now analyze the matchups, dissect the odds, and share my top betting picks. So, let’s start with the most interesting game of the day – CSKA Moscow vs. Anadolu Efes.
CSKA Moscow to Beat Anadolu Efes
It seems that the key to defeating CSKA Moscow is to do well in the defense. The thing is that the Russian heavyweight has some lethal weapons in its offense, but if you can stop them, CSKA is done.
I’m not writing this without proof. Let’s take CSKA’s previous home game in the EuroLeague as an example. They played against Olimpia Milano and lost the game 67-57. The Italian team did a great job defense-wise, stopping CSKA’s offense from doing much.
Sure, we did seem some of the Russian players score a lot – Alex Shved put away 27 points – but overall, Olimpia’s defense did a fine job.
The question is can Anadolu Efes do as well in the defense? Truth be told, this team hasn’t been great in the defense this season. This goes especially for their recent performances.
On the bright side for Efes, these guys have been great when it comes to scoring. Their average in the EuroLeague is 80.1 points per game, which makes their offense third-best in the competition. Unfortunately for Efes, CSKA Moscow players are just three places behind with 79.9 PPG.
That said, a high-scoring game is expected on Wednesday, but who’s going to win it? Right now, CSKA looks like the favorite, but no one should be surprised if the reigning EuroLeague champs get a win from their trip to the Russian capital.
UNICS Kazan to Beat Alba Berlin
UNICS Kazan is looking to rebound after a loss to its Russian rival CSKA Moscow in the previous round of the EuroLeague. Luckily for this team, its next opponent is one of the worst clubs in the competition. Ahead of Round 24, Alba Berlin is 6-15 on the season, with each of its previous four games being losses.
Another good news for UNICS is that Alba is the worst team in the EuroLeague when it comes to defense, with 80.95 points conceded per game on average.
As if that wasn’t enough, Alba’s been pretty bad scoring-wise in recent times. For example, in their most recent EuroLeague game, the Berliners scored just 56 points against Bayern Munich – their worst offensive performance this season.
If there’s something that needs to worry UNICS, it’s the fact that four of Alba’s six wins in the EuroLeague happened in Berlin. Three of those happened within the last five rounds.
On the bright side, UNICS players did well on the road, winning three of their previous five away games. The ones they lost happened against Barcelona (in overtime) and Real Madrid, the two teams from the very top of the EuroLeague table.
Real Madrid to Beat Olympiacos
Real Madrid is sitting at the top of the EuroLeague table, but Olympiakos is not far behind. The Greek team is in the #6 position at the moment, but this team’s played one game fewer than Los Blancos.
Still, Olympiacos’ form is nowhere near the form of Real Madrid. The Greeks lost their previous three EuroLeague games, while the Spanish club is on a six-game win streak in this competition.
Olympiacos has also been great at home with a 9-1 record, but their away stats aren’t that great. They’re 3-7 on the road, with two straight away losses. Plus, their most recent away win happened against their city-rivals Panathinaikos in the capital of Greece, Athens.
Knowing all this, it’s only logical to assume Real Madrid is going to rip them apart on Wednesday, the way Los Blancos did in nine of their previous 10 duels played in Spain.
