EuroLeague Predictions and Best Bets – March 4, 2021

| March 3, 2021 10:54 am PDT

EuroLeague basketball got off to a fine start with a wild seven-game schedule on Tuesday.

Things are back to normal on Thursday, with four games on the docket. See who is in action before diving into today’s EuroLeague predictions and picks.

  • Zenit vs. Real Madrid
  • Anadolu Efes vs. CSKA
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Valencia
  • Bayern Munich vs. Panathinaikos

The big game to watch here is undeniably a clash between Anadolu Efes and CSKA Moscow. Both of these teams are in the top-6 in the 2021 EuroLeague standings, with CSKS eyeing the top spot in the rankings.

It also features a nice one-on-one battle between elite guards in Shane Larkin and Mike James.

If that doesn’t get you excited to bet on EuroLeague ball today, I’m not sure what will. There are still other games (and bets) to catch your eye, though.

For the others, let’s dive into each game and see which bets stand out for March 4th, 2021.

Zenit vs. Real Madrid Predictions

  • Zenit to beat Real Madrid
  • Predicted total: 155-160

This is actually another really big game that floats under the radar a bit. Zenit and Real Madrid both have 16 wins and are among the better teams in the league.

Zenit’s recent form is a bit more troubling, of course, as they’re just 2-4 over their last six games. They also lost the previous meeting, 79-72.

Kevin Pangos rained fire in a ferocious comeback in his last game, though.

If Pangos can show up like that, Zenit has a chance. That and Real Madrid is slipping a bit with three losses in their last four games – including an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Khimki.

Not having a healthy Sergio Llull only makes things worse. I expect a close game, but I like Zenit in this spot.

Anadolu Efes vs. CSKA Predictions

  • CSKA to beat Anadolu Efes
  • Predicted total: 160-165

These teams have been so good lately that their star guards haven’t even had to be the best versions of themselves.

Something tells me Shane Larkin and Mike James are going to bring it for this epic duel, though.

This is understandably a tough one to call, but it’s worth noting that CSKA waxed Anadolu Efes earlier this year.

There could always be some payback in order, but CSKA feels like the more complete team.

They’re 2-0 since Mike James returned, and they still have a shot at first place, so I think they keep it going here.

Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Valencia Predictions

  • Valencia to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv
  • Predicted total: 155-160

I like the value with Valencia on Thursday. You don’t have to bet on them straight up, thanks to an appealing point spread, but you certainly can.

Valencia Basket lost for the first time in four games in their last contest, but it was by the hands of a surging Anadolu squad. I like them to bounce back here, as they’re getting healthy and are one of the deeper teams in the EuroLeague.

Maccabi Tel Aviv did put up a fight in an 82-80 shootout (Valencia won) back in round 10, but they’re in bad form with four straight losses.

Bayern Munich vs. Panathinaikos Predictions

  • Bayern Munich to beat Panathinaikos
  • Predicted total: 155-160

Bayern Munich is probably one of the easier calls on this EuroLeague betting slate. They’re heating up as one of the better teams in the rankings at 17-10, and they’re a stellar 5-1 over their last six contests.

Panathinaikos has a lot of size to contend with, and they won the first meeting, of course. They also boosted their depth by bringing in veteran swingman Mario Hezonja.

That’s a huge addition, and while they’re just 1-3 over their last four games, I like Panathinaikos at +6.5. I just like Bayern to win a bit more.

Best EuroLeague Bets for Thursday, March 4th

  • Zenit to Win (-109)
  • CSKA (+4) -111
  • Valencia (+3) -109

This EuroLeague betting slate is admittedly not as alluring as the one from Tuesday. This schedule does offer two very intense showdowns, however, while three of the four games have point spreads at +4 or closer.

All four games are at +6.5 or better, too, so bettors could really be looking at an unpredictable slate.

You can go with my EuroLeague predictions above for any moneyline bets you want to target, but for the most part, I’d rather just play the spread. Zenit looks like a decent value to win, and you can go a bit harder and ride my picks to get CSKA and Valencia, as well.

The value just isn’t amazing for the wins there, especially in what should be really close games that could go either way. I think playing it safe and just getting -111 and -109 back on 3 and 4-point spreads is the way to go.
