EuroLeague Predictions and Best Bets – January 29, 2021

| January 28, 2021 12:29 pm PDT

I wish EuroLeague basketball was available at the top basketball betting sites every single day. If you’ve been following along with my EuroLeague betting picks, you probably agree.

Tuesday’s picks broke even while I handed out three wins and a push. Let’s keep the good times rolling to close out the week on Friday.

But first, let’s see who is playing.

  • Bayern Munich vs. CSKA Moscow
  • Real Madrid vs. Alba Berlin
  • Valencia vs. Panathinaikos
  • Asvel Lyon vs. Crvena Zvezda
  • Zalgiris vs. Saski Baskonia

January 29th feels like a fun day to bet on the EuroLeague. I have a few bets I hold in higher regard than others, and if you’re looking for straight-up winners, I’ve got you covered.

Bayern Munich vs. CSKA Moscow Predictions

  • CSKA Moscow to beat Bayern Munich
  • Predicted total: 155-160

The big headline in the EuroLeague right now is the status of CSKA Moscow’s top scorer Mike James. He is unlikely to play on Friday after a locker room incident, and it’s quite likely he is going to exit the team altogether.

Losing James for any amount of time would be catastrophic, as he’s been crushing all year with 20 points and 5.8 assists per game.

I still think CSKA Moscow can hold down the fort at home without him, but Bayern is a rock-solid team. All things considered, this 7-point spread feels awfully thick.

Real Madrid vs. Alba Berlin Predictions

  • Real Madrid to beat Alba Berlin
  • Predicted total: 160-165

Real Madrid is a pretty hefty favorite on the road on Friday. Oh, they’re facing 8-14 Alba Berlin – that’s why.

Real Madrid has had some bad luck in the health department, but veteran guard Sergio Llull is still on hand to power them through the tough times.

Alba Berlin is at home, but that’s about all they’ve got going for them. Their defense isn’t great, and they’re just 1-7 over their last eight contests. Unfortunately, Real Madrid’s ghastly -317 moneyline at BetOnline isn’t really a wager to feel amazing about.

Valencia vs. Panathinaikos Predictions

  • Valencia to beat Panathinaikos
  • Predicted total: 160-165

Valencia will look to get things going on the road against Panathinaikos on Friday. They finally got Klemen Prepelic back, and he promptly dropped 18 points in a tight loss to Zalgiris.

Bojan Dubljevic is also back, so Valencia is in good shape moving forward. Panathinaikos, meanwhile, is pretty banged up, and they’re just 2-5 over their last seven games.

Valencia coasted to a 95-83 win earlier this year, so while I think you can bank on some points here, Valencia is the right call if you need to pick a side.

Asvel Lyon vs. Crvena Zvezda Predictions

  • Asvel Lyon to beat Crvena Zvezda
  • Predicted total: 150-155

Two shaky teams square off in this one, with 7-15 Crvena hosting 8-14 Asvel. Neither of these teams are particularly easy to trust, but I’m leaning toward Asvel Lyon here.

They’re on the road, but they’re much healthier.

Crvena has dropped three in a row, and they could be without both Johnny O’Bryant and Jordan Loyd.

Those would be massive absences, so I say chase the value and target Asvel as a fun underdog on Friday.

Zalgiris vs. Saski Baskonia Predictions

  • Zalgiris to beat Saski Baskonia
  • Predicted total: 155-160

Zalgiris has been kind to me lately, so let’s just keep rolling with them. They’re looking healthy and are fresh off of a clutch win over Valencia.

Joffrey Lauvergne poured in a solid double-double in that win (13 points, 12 rebounds), and this balanced Zalgiris squad has now gone 8-2 over their last 10 games.

They’re on the road, but they are healthy and in a groove right now. Baskonia, meanwhile, are losers of four straight. I doubt they snap their skid on Friday.

Best EuroLeague Bets for Friday, January 29th

  • Bayern Munich (+7) -114
  • Valencia to Win (-146)
  • Asvel Lyon to Win (+156)
  • Zalgiris to Win (+126)

This slate offers plenty of value. Lately, I’ve been trying not to force EuroLeague upset picks, but this is a pretty good day to target some.

Asvel and Zalgiris stand out the most, as it’s pretty arguable they should be favorites. I think they both get the win, but Asvel (+4) against the spread is a safer route if you don’t want to take on extra risk.

Bayern Munich is honestly on the table as an amazing EuroLeague underdog play, too. I won’t go quite that far on the road against one of the best teams in the league, but Mike James being out is a big deal.

Bayern at +7 feels like a steal, and I doubt the line lasts long at most EuroLeague basketball betting sites.

Valencia is also the better team in their matchup, and they feel like a bit of a steal at -146.

Hopefully, these EuroLeague predictions and picks serve you well. Good luck, and enjoy the games!
