EuroLeague Predictions and Best Bets – October 30, 2020

My first crack at predicting EuroLeague basketball games didn’t go quite as planned yesterday. One game got postponed due to COVID-19, which by itself wasn’t the greatest omen.

That’s been a real hiccup for this league all season, too, and until it goes away, bettors need to brace for it.

Moving into Friday, we have a little three-game schedule to work with. Assuming no games are PPD, here’s a look at what’s on tap.

This is a small slate for betting on EuroLeague, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a fun one. Shane Larkin is set to make his debut (if his game isn’t canceled), while we also get to see stars such as Alexey Shved, Jordan Lloyd, Nikola Mirotic, and Jonas Jerebko in action.

Crvena is a respectable 2-2 through four games, and they’ll be looking to get over .500 on Friday when they face Khimki. Khimki Moscow has had a tough go of it, as they’re 0-5 in EuroLeague action thus far.

I don’t know how seriously we can take that record just yet, of course, as Khimki’s best player (Alexey Shved), has played in one game, and that was a wild 89-87 shootout loss.

I like Khimki here, as Shved came in hot in his season debut (32 points and 11 assists).

I expect him to be about as good as he tries to will his team to their first win of the year.

The news is always very slow to trickle out when it comes to games that are postponed, but this is one to keep an eye on. Anadolu Efes had a positive case, so it’s possible this game doesn’t play.

If it does, there is reason to get excited if you’re a fan of Efes, though, as Shane Larkin will be back.

Larkin led the best team in the EuroLeague last year and put up 22 points per game, so he’ll be a welcome addition after missing the team’s first four contests.

Efes is just 1-3 so far, so getting their best player back is big, while they also have a strong low post presence to rely on in Bryant Dunston. I like Efes here, as they’ll get the jolt they need with Larkin returning.

Lastly, we have FC Barcelona tied with the best record in EuroLeague (4-1), and they’ll put it on the line against Saski Baskonia (2-1). This is a pretty interesting matchup, as both of these teams tend to be fairly balanced and deep.

The edge naturally lies with FC Barcelona, who have superior star power with the likes of Mirotic and Nick Calathes leading the charge. This is a team that is so deep that useful guys like Brandon Davies, Cory Higgins, Alex Abrines, and even Travis Huertel often go overlooked.

FC Barcelona is just stacked, and they can kill you in so many different ways. Saski Baskonia has a shot if Rokas Giedraitis can ball out, while it’d also be helpful if Pierria Henry popped off like did in the season opener (23 points).

Ultimately, I think FC Barcelona is too deep, and I think they can win and cover here.

I think the return of Shane Larkin will be big for Efes, and they look like a fine value on Friday. We need to give Khimki Moscow the benefit of the doubt, too, and with Alexey Shved getting settled in his second game back, I think they can dominate.

That game should be tight initially, so the Over also feels like one of the best EuroLeague betting picks for this slate. You can continue riding my EuroLeague predictions with a FC Barcelona win, too.

A -224 moneyline isn’t very appealing, of course, so you can bet on them to win by six here. I think that’s plenty feasible, as they’re just the deeper and more talented squad.
