EuroLeague Predictions and Best Bets – January 7, 2021

| January 7, 2021 2:26 am PDT

EuroLeague basketball has been on break for the holidays (save for one game yesterday), but it finally returns with a full slate of games on Thursday.

See who is in action for today’s five-game slate.

  • Fenerbahce Ulker vs. Crvena Zvezda
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Alba Berlin
  • Zenit vs. Panathinaikos
  • CSKA Moscow vs. Saski Baskonia
  • Valencia vs. FC Barcelona

This is a pretty interesting slate at first glance, as three games hold totals north of 156, and no game has a point spread thicker than seven.

Thursday’s schedule also features a really nice battle between Valencia Basket and FC Barcelona, so that should serve as quite the hammer game.

Unsure as to how to bet on EuroLeague? Mull it over with my EuroLeague predictions and top betting picks for Thursday, January 7th, 2021.

Fenerbahce Ulker vs. Crvena Zvezda Predictions

  • Fenerbahce Ulker to beat Crvena Zvezda
  • Predicted total: 145-150

This is a tough game to project when you look at Fenerbahce’s offense lately (81+ points the past two games), but their defense is in a pretty good spot.

Crvena Zvezda is an underwhelming 6-11 on the year, and they’ll be tasked with trying to get this win without top guard Jordan Loyd.

Fenerbahce offers respectable value at -167 at most online betting sites, and you can also consider the Under here.

Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Alba Berlin Predictions

  • Maccabi Tel Aviv to Win
  • Predicted total: 155-160

There are injuries to track on both sides of this one, as Maccabi Tel Aviv enters as 7-point favorites, but won’t have big man Othello Hunter, who is dealing with an eye injury.

It’s a bit of a wash, of course, as Alba Berlin won’t have Luka Sikma. It’s also possible guard Peyton Siva will still be limited or sidelined for this one.

Maccabi Tel Aviv has been the more reliable team, and they’re a bit healthier. You can target the Over, but I’d otherwise just go with Maccabi Tel Aviv in this spot.

Zenit vs. Panathinaikos Predictions

  • Zenit to beat Panathinaikos
  • Predicted total: 150-155

Kevin Pangos heads a solid and balanced Zenit team that is 3-1 over their last four games. They’ll be the favorites in a game that could have shootout potential.

I don’t mind the Over here, but I actually like Panathinaikos for the upset. Nemanja is just two games removed from an insane 39-point outing, and he’s kept Panathinaikos in most of their games lately.

The lines are tight here, and this could be a nice spot to get a little value with the home dogs.

CSKA Moscow vs. Saski Baskonia Predictions

  • CSKA Moscow to beat Saski Baskonia
  • Predicted total: 155-160

This is another solid spot to bet on some points. CSKA Moscow is atop the 2021 EuroLeague standings at 14-3, so a win here is also likely, and they’ll probably cover.

Mike James (20.6 points per game) continues to ball out, and he’s been part of a mind-boggling 11 consecutive wins. I doubt his tear ends here.

Valencia vs. FC Barcelona Predictions

  • Valencia to beat FC Barcelona
  • Predicted total: 155-160

This is arguably the game of the day, as two very good teams clash for the final contest. FC Barcelona is the better squad, but they’re shorthanded with forward Nikola Mirotic out for this one.

In addition, Barcelona will be losing some depth with Brandon Davies also sitting out.

Valencia could have their own issues if Bojan Dubljevic misses a third straight game, but there’s too much value not to pounce here. Valencia to beat a 6.5-point spread is the much safer play, but I say aim high here.

Best EuroLeague Bets for Thursday, January 7th

  • Fenerbahce Ulker to Win (-167)
  • Panathinaikos to Win (+122)
  • CSKA Moscow vs. Saski Baskonia Over 156 (-116)
  • Valencia to Win (+267)

I like even more EuroLeague bets but these four stand out as my favorites by quite a bit.

Fenerbahce is the better team in their matchup and their moneyline isn’t too wild, so they look like a fine play. I also like Panathinaikos as a viable home dog.

CSKA Moscow will probably win and cover, but their game with Saski Baskonia should be straight fire. The game total honestly feels a bit curbed, so I’d just hammer the Over there.

Lastly, you don’t get many chances to hit a pretty good Valencia team at +267. They’re on the road against a great Barcelona team, but it’s one that is severely undermanned. Bet the spread if you wish to play it safe, but +267 is just too good to ignore.
