Erickson Lubin vs. Jeison Rosario – June 26, 2021

| June 23, 2021 8:47 am PDT

Erickson Lubin squares off with Jeison Rosario in a WBC title eliminator this Saturday, June 26, in Atlanta, Georgia.

In this betting preview, I’ll be covering the odds for Lubin vs. Rosario, as well as the best bets you can place on the fight. There is also enough space to hit you with my predictions and betting pick for Lubin vs. Rosario, which serves as the co-main event on the Mario Barrios vs. Gervonta Davis card.

Betting on Lubin vs. Rosario will be interesting, as both men are fairly well matched. Lubin (23-1, 16 KOs) takes one loss, a first-round KO at the hands of Jermell Charlo, into the ropes.

Rosario (20-2-1, 14 KOs) is coming off an 8th Round KO loss to the same man in September and will be desperate for another crack at the fighter that brutally took his WBA (Super) and IBF light middleweight titles from him.

Let’s get this betting preview with predictions and pick for Lubin vs. Rosario fired up.

Lubin or Rosario – Who Wins?

  • Erickson Lubin by KO/TKO

Betting on Lubin to beat Rosario by KO/TKO seems where the smart money is.

I have been following “The Hammer” since his amateur days and have expected big things of him over the years. He has not disappointed so far.

More importantly, he appears to have taken the Charlo KO on the chin (pun intended) and has shown improvements in his game since then.

Rosario scored a huge win over Julian Williams in January 2020, but this fight will be an even bigger test for him.

More on that after we check out the odds and best bets for Lubin vs. Rosario.

Latest Odds for Lubin vs. Rosario

Erickson Lubin to Win-300
Jeison Rosario to Win+225

If you’re gambling on Lubin’s odds to beat Rosario, BetUS currently has him as the favorite.

Not by a great deal, of course. I believe there is good value in Lubin’s odds on the moneyline, and I’ll be discussing why when I look at the top bets for the fight below.

Rosario’s odds to beat Lubin come in at +225.

This is a decent price for a guy that we know can fight, but I do think it’s a tad on the short side. I mean, $225 profit for a $100 bet sounds great on paper, but the Dominican will struggle to contain Lubin’s power, and I would make the line for this fight a little wider as a result.

So, about those top wagers for Lubin vs. Rosario.

Best Bets for Lubin vs. Rosario

Lubin to Win-300
Lubin by KO/TKO/DQ+175
Lubin Wins Rounds 7 to 9+650

The first of my betting tips for Lubin vs. Rosario is to back The Hammer for the win.

A conservative approach, sure, but it’s a good bet nonetheless. If you’re looking to put together a boxing parlay for this weekend, this bet will help you on your way.

Still, I am more than happy to take the leap in gambling on him to win by KO/TKO. This fits snugly with my predictions and betting pick for Lubin vs. Rosario, and I’ll explain more on that later.

For the more adventurous bettor, back Lubin to win at some point between the 7th and 9th rounds. If he gets Rosario out of there in the 7th, 8th, or 9th, you win at some pretty odds.

Why Lubin Beats Rosario by KO/TKO

There is no crystal clear winner in this fight, but I’m predicting Lubin to come away with the KO/TKO victory.

The American gives up an inch and a half to the Dominican in height but has 4.5″ in reach. In a fight that will come down to who can paint their color the brightest, this will be crucial.

Stylistically, Rosario will adopt a more conservative approach, even though he clearly has power in his fists. He has more knockouts on his record but has fought weaker opposition until recently. Those two things certainly balance each other out.

In breaking these two down, I have to give the most valuable advantages to Lubin. A very savvy southpaw with serious pop, he can box, too. That loss to Charlo might have had a lot to do with brash confidence and youthful carelessness, but the most important thing is that he has shown heart and intelligence since that major setback.

I like the Dominican, but my betting pick for Lubin vs. Rosario is the American to win by KO/TKO. If Lubin call pull it off, he’s mandatory for the winner of Charlo and Brian Castano.

What a fight that will be.
