Energetik-BGU vs. Slutsk – Belarusian Premier League, November 1, 2020

| October 28, 2020 11:27 am PDT

This is another rearranged Belarusian Premier League game that was originally scheduled to be played at the end of September.

Nothing much has changed for these two sides though. Energetik-BGU looks likely to see out a relatively successful season, while Slutsk is falling ever closer to the drop.

Energetik-BGU vs. Slutsk Odds

Energetik-BGU to Win-113
The Draw+267
Slutsk to Win+238

I have no problem with the bookies making Energetik-BGU the favorite to take all three points on Sunday. But I am surprised by the lack of faith it shows in the Minsk club.

I would expect the price for a Slutsk win to be far longer than this – especially considering it is playing away from home.

Energetik-BGU vs. Slutsk Match Preview

Energetik-BGU is going through a particularly bad run of results and form, as we get closer to the end of the season. There hasn’t been a league win since the end of August and last week’s game against Shakhtyor was over by the time the half time whistle blew.

But there are still some good players in a squad that has been picked apart by bigger and wealthier clubs this season. The Students have played some of the best soccer in the league at times this year and should still be far too strong for this frankly woeful Slutsk team.

Slutsk conceded another four goals in the defeat to Torpedo last week – and it is only Smolevichi at the bottom of the table that has allowed more goals this season. Just one win in nine Belarusian Premier League games tells its own story about how bad a year this has been.

There is still a slight gap between Slutsk and Belshina below, but it is the Bobruisk side that looks more capable of adding to its total at the moment. It is a good job that Slutsk was able to win a few games at the beginning of the year because otherwise, it would probably already be down.

Energetik-BGU vs. Slutsk Pick

  • Energetik-BGU to Win

Energetik-BGU may be odds on to win this game with MyBookie, but I still think that the price for a home win looks remarkably good if you are able to supply a big enough stake to make the bet worthwhile. I just can’t see Slutsk being able to get anything from this game.
