Dusan Lajovic vs. Kevin Anderson – French Open, October 1, 2020
I love the 2020 French Open because of the many surprises we saw so far. I don’t know if the colder weather or the new balls are the main reason, but it’s been wild and most matches have been extremely competitive.
One player that certainly enjoys this year’s Roland-Garros more than me is Kevin Anderson. The veteran had a strong start on Tuesday and will be hoping for more of the same against Dusan Lajovic. The Serbian is the favorite, but his countryman Laslo Djere was in a similar position in the opener against the South African.
I share my thoughts on the upcoming match in this Dusan Lajovic vs. Kevin Anderson betting preview. The post includes the latest odds, my predictions, and my free betting pick.
Lajovic vs. Anderson Odds
- Lajovic to win; -191
- Anderson to win; +166
- Lajovic (-3); -118
- Anderson (+3); -102
- Over 39; -114
- Under 39; -106
The latest Dusan Lajovic vs. Kevin Anderson odds of the top tennis betting sites showcase that the Serbian is expected to win. And yet, the sportsbooks obviously give his opponent some respect by setting the handicap line at only three games.
Dusan Lajovic Form and Analysis
The return of tennis probably caught Dusan Lajovic off guard because the Serbian was far from his best in the first several tournaments. He was knocked out in the opening rounds of the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open, and the Austrian Open.
Lajovic improved dramatically in the Italian Open and the German Open, though, so he entered the 2020 Roland-Garros with plenty of momentum.
The Serbian beat Gianluca Mager in the first round and he was able to win 3-1. He loves clay courts and will be hoping for a solid run at the French Open, but his head-to-head stats against Anderson show two defeats from two matches.
Kevin Anderson Form and Analysis
Many underestimated Kevin Anderson’s chances in the opening round of the 2020 French Open and expected a defeat against Laslo Djere. The veteran proved them wrong with a comfortable win in which he only gave away nine games over the course of the three sets played.
Game, set and match!@KAndersonATP breezes into the second round at @rolandgarros with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 straight sets victory over Serbian Laslo Djere in 2 hours and 11 minutes ?.@rolandgarros l #RolandGarros pic.twitter.com/MBwbCYd89X— Tennis South Africa (@TennisSA) September 29, 2020
Anderson’s serve was working well and he was very aggressive on his opponent’s serve, attacking on every opportunity. I expect more of the same against Dusan Lajovic and it’s not like the Serbian has a strong serve.
I believe that Anderson will have multiple opportunities to break Lajovic, so he can certainly win this one if his own serve is working well.
Lajovic vs. Anderson Prediction and Betting Pick
The only factor working in Lajovic’s favor is that he’s in the prime years of his career, while Anderson is getting old. And yet, the veteran has looked better since the return of tennis and holds the h2h advantage over his opponent.
I would say that this match is much closer than the odds suggest, so I prefer backing Anderson at a price of +166.
