Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions (2021) Betting Preview – LPGA Odds and Pick to Win

| January 19, 2021 3:12 pm PDT

25 of the LPGA’s best players are joined by 50+ celebrities in Lake Buena Vista to take part in the season-opening event. While names like Kirk Cousins and Ray Allen will be trying to rack up points in the Modified Stableford format, the women will be trying to go as low as possible.

On that note, let’s get to some Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions picks.

Keep in mind, the only way to earn a tee time at the Four Seasons Golf & Sports Club Orlando is to win an LPGA event in the last two years. That helps explain the limited pool of entrants.

2021 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions Odds

*Odds reflected from XBet

Thanks to finishing 7th or better in five of her last six starts, Brooke Henderson leads the way at the top betting sites. However, be sure to shop your lines as Brooke is sitting at +450 to win at some of the best places to bet sports online.

+500 odds aren’t much more appealing. Nonetheless, you don’t want to leave any equity on the table.

Just behind world #6 on the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions odds sheet are the fourth- and fifth-ranked golfers, Nelly Korda and Danielle Kang. Korda has fared well at this event (T3 in 2019, T10 in 2020), while Kang has been unable to crack the top 10 (T18 in 2019, T12 in 2020).

Speaking of past results on the golf club that sits adjacent to Disney World, let’s have a quick look.

Diamond Resorts TOC Results

2021 marks the third edition of this tournament being part of the LPGA schedule. Here’s how the top of the leaderboard panned out in each of the last two years.

Year Winner Rounds Total Score Runner-Up (s)
2020 Gaby Lopez 65-69-71-66 271 (-13) Nasa Hataoka, Inbee Park
2019 Eun-Hee Ji 65-69-66-70 270 (-14) Mirim Lee

It took seven extra holes and a Monday finish for Gaby Lopez to seal the deal in 2020. Making Lopez’s journey all the more satisfying is the fact that she had to roll in an 18-foot bomb for birdie on the 72nd hole just to get into the playoff.

The conclusion to the Diamond Resorts TOC in 2019 was far less dramatic when Eun-Hee Ji coasted to a two-shot victory.

As for how tournament favorite Brook Henderson has fared, the 23-year-old Canadian who chokes down on all her clubs finished 4th in 2020 and 6th in 2019.

2021 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions Pick

I highlighted Henderson, Korda, and Kang – the top-3 ranked players (according to Rolex Rankings) in the field. The only other female ranked inside the top 20 in Orlando this week is #11, Lexi Thompson.

Arriving fresh off her top-5 at the CME Group Tour Championship, look for Lexi to take dead aim at the pins in the Sunshine State.

On top of performing well last time out, Thompson has been knocking on the door at the Four Seasons Golf & Sports Club Orlando.

Lexi Thompson’s Results at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions
Year Scores Finish GIR Putts/Round Prize Money
2020 66-71-69-68 T7 79.2% (57/72) 30.25 $42,935
2019 67-69-73-70 T10 80.1% (58/72) 32.0 $31,593

Perhaps the third time is the charm.

Head to XBet in and lock Lexi in at +800.

More Golf Betting Predictions

FYI, Lexi Thompson is -130 in a head-to-head matchup versus Danielle Kang this week, despite both women being priced at +800 to win the tournament. That tells you all you need to know pertaining to the value behind backing Thompson to hoist the hardware.

As far as other avenues to get money down, I’ve got my eye on Sophia Popov in a H2H against Celine Boutier. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that Popov is priced as the underdog (-101).

Do either of those Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions predictions grab your attention? Did this LPGA Tour betting preview help?

When you’re ready to transition to the PGA Tour Champions, I’ve got some picks waiting.
