Delta Downs Picks – Tuesday, March 9, 2021

For Tuesday, Delta Downs delivers a ten-race card full of maiden, allowance, and claiming races.
For those looking to spend a day at the races in Vinton, Louisiana, expect partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid-70s, and winds around 15 mph.
Also, bear in mind that you can find Delta Downs’ full ten-race card for Tuesday — including entries, jockeys, morning line odds, and wagering options — at one of our best horse racing betting sites.
Read on for my Delta Downs picks and betting tips for Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
Pick for Race 2 at Delta Downs
This is a starter optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $24,000.
I like the 5/1 underdog in this race — Tabia, ridden by Alex Birzer. This six-year-old gelding moneyed 10 of his 20 career starts, winning six. Against the rest of this field, that’s leader-of-the-pack statistics.
I don’t see any longer-odds entries in this race that could finish in the money, so let’s save ours.
- Win: Tabia 5/1
Picks for Race 5 at Delta Downs
This is a maiden special weight race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $37,000.
I’m sticking with the 2/1 favorite in this race — Hallajoori, with Joel Dominguez in the irons. This four-year-old filly moneyed in six of her career starts and has comparatively superior speed figures versus the rest of this field.
At 12/1, Blue Ridge Moon, with Emanuel Nieves aboard, looks like a good value show wager. This three-year-old filly moneyed two of her four career starts and has shown good performance levels in recent workouts, as well as chalked up competitive speed figures.
- Win: Hallajoori 2/1
- Show: Blue Ridge Moon 12/1
Picks for Race 6 at Delta Downs
This is an allowance race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $39,000.
I agree with the morning line here, and my money’s on the 6/5 favorite — Shi O’Shi, ridden by Diego Saenz. This four-year-old filly finished in the money for four of her five career starts, winning two.
And at 12/1, I like Queen Gigi, with Luis Batista aboard, for a value show ticket. This four-year-old filly moneyed four of her eight career starts, winning two.
- Win: Shi O’Shi 6/5
- Show: Queen Gigi 12/1
