Delta Downs Picks – Tuesday, February 2, 2021

| February 1, 2021 1:50 pm PDT

Delta Downs brings us a variety of claiming races for our Tuesday wagering entertainment.

The track permits spectators, so if you attend, expect partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain, highs in the low 60s, and very mild winds around five mph.

I review the top three races here, but you can find the entire nine-race card for Tuesday at Delta Downs — including entries, jockeys, and wagering options — at one of our recommended horse racing betting sites.

Read on for my Delta Downs picks and betting tips for Tuesday, February 2, 2021.

Pick for Race 2 at Delta Downs

This is a claiming race for Louisiana-bred four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 7-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $24,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/1 morning line favorite in this race — Andiamo Giacomo, ridden by Thomas Pompell. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money seven of his 12 career starts, winning one.

The longest odds in this eight-horse race are 12/1, and those just aren’t long enough to warrant the risk of a value show bet.

  •  Win: Andiamo Giacomo 2/1

Pick for Race 7 at Delta Downs

This is an allowance race for three-year-old fillies running a distance of five furlongs for a purse of $31,000.

I agree with the morning line in this run as well, so I’m buying a win ticket on the 9/5 favorite — Reason Why, with Diego Saenz in the irons. This filly moneyed both of her career starts, breaking her maiden in December and earning a third-place at Delta Downs in January for her second run.

There’s a 15/1 entry in this seven-horse field, but that’s not going to happen, so keep your long money in your pocket.

  •  Win: Reason Why 9/5

Pick for Race 8 at Delta Downs

This is an allowance race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 7-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $32,000.

I like the third-favored (9/2) entry — Take That for Data, with Edguard A. Tejera aboard. This six-year-old gelding moneyed 11 of his 22 career starts, winning six of them, which includes a four-win streak over four different tracks in 2020.

I don’t see any of the longer-odds entries in this race finishing anywhere near the money.

  •  Win: take That for Data 9/2

More Horse Racing Predictions for Tuesday

Delta Downs was stingy today with both the underdogs and surprise moneymakers, but remember — I reviewed two other two tracks for Tuesday:
