Del Mar Racing has nine maiden, claiming, and allowance races on turf and dirt for our wagering pleasure Friday.

Remember that you can check out and even place wagers on all nine of Del Mar Racing’s matches for Friday with a visit to one of our top online racebooks.

Read on for my Del Mar Racing picks and betting tips for Friday, November 13, 2020.

Pick for Del Mar Racing Race 1

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of five furlongs on turf for a purse of $57,000.

I’m backing the 9/5 morning line favorite here — Gator Shining, with veteran jockey Ricardo Gonzalez in the irons. This colt moneyed his single career start with a second-place finish last month at Santa Anita.

None of the longer-odds entries in this race look good to finish in the money, so let’s save ours.

  • Win: Gator Shining 9/5

Picks for Del Mar Racing Race 3

This is a maiden special weight race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile on turf for a purse of $57,000.

I’m going with the second-favored (7/2) entry here — Slew South, with Flavien Prat aboard. This four-year-old filly moneyed two of her six career starts, but most of her defeats were in 2019 — here’s her record for 2020: two money finishes in three starts. She’s on a roll.

At 20/1, Buy Wave Buy, ridden by Tyler Baze, looks like a solid show ticket investment. This four-year-old filly moneyed three of her four career starts.

  • Win: Slew South 7/2
  • Show: Buy Wave Buy 20/1

Picks for Del Mar Racing Race 7

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on turf for a purse of $61,000.

I’m in full agreement with the morning line here, and my win ticket is for the 3/1 favorite — Cali Caliente, with top jockey Juan J. Hernandez aboard. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money five of his six career starts, winning three of them.

The longest odds I see useful for a value bet are 15/1, so buy a show ticket for Tartini, with Tyler Baze in the irons. This six-year-old gelding moneyed ten of his 25 career starts, including four wins — but his 2020 record shows much improvement: Three money finishes in four starts — all of them wins. You might even toy with the idea of an across the board wager here.

  • Win: Cali Caliente 3/1
  • Show/Across the Board: Tartini 15/1
