DC United vs. Columbus Crew Betting Preview – MLS, October 28, 2020
After 20 games, DC United has finally recorded back-to-back wins for the very first time this season. Chad Ashton’s men beat Atlanta United last time out, but they face a much tougher test this week.
The Black & Red welcomes Columbus to Audi Field on Wednesday, October 28. The Crew currently sits third in the Eastern Conference standings – 17 points ahead of second-bottom DC.

DC United vs. Columbus Crew Odds
DC United (3.45) may head into this clash on a three-game unbeaten streak, but the online sportsbooks still believe Columbus Crew (2.05) has the upper hand in this matchup.
Ashton’s revitalized side will be confident of snatching at least a draw (3.50), although Columbus has more than enough quality to end DC’s resurgence.
DC United vs. Columbus Crew Preview
DC’s revival under interim head coach Chad Ashton continued on Saturday as the Black & Red won for the second weekend in a row. Following a draw with Philadelphia Union and a victory over FC Cincinnati, the DC beat Atlanta 2-1 last time out.
The Washington outfit only managed two victories in 16 outings under Ben Olsen. But since the club parted ways with their long-standing leader, DC has doubled their win tally for the season in just four games.
Of course, we all know that a change of head coach often brings about an upturn in form. But DC can’t afford to let any complacency creep in.
Considering how poorly the team has performed this term, it is remarkable that DC still stands any chance of reaching the play-offs. An automatic qualification spot is out of reach, but a top-ten finish could see the club make an unlikely appearance in the next phase of the competition.
Columbus secured their place in the play-offs earlier in the month, although a string of below-par results has prevented the Ohio outfit from challenging the top sides in the division. Caleb Porter’s men have only managed to win two of their previous six outings and find themselves six points behind frontrunners Philly and Toronto.
However, following a four-game winless run, the Crew now heads into Wednesday’s clash on a two-game unbeaten streak. A victory over New York City and a draw with Houston Dynamo have seen the team climb up the table again.
There is no denying that Columbus deserved to beat NYC, but it could be argued that Porter’s men were fortunate to avoid defeat against Houston. The Crew scored with their only shot on target on Saturday, with Victor Cabrera earning his side a draw from the penalty spot.
DC United vs. Columbus Crew Betting Pick
The 17-point gulf between Columbus and DC is clear for all to see, but if you look at the recent form guide, there really is very little to separate the two sides.
In fact, DC has taken seven points from their previous five games, while the Crew has only managed to pick up five points in that time. I can see DC extending their unbeaten streak by snatching a draw on Wednesday.
