Daily Fantasy NASCAR Picks for the 2021 Firekeepers Casino 400 (Sunday, August 22)
Another week of NASCAR racing arrives this Sunday, when the top drivers on the circuit face off in the 2021 Firekeepers Casino 400.
It’s a welcomed change of pace, as this won’t be a road course.
Going into this weekend’s race, Kyle Larson comes in as the logical favorite, and nobody is all that close behind him when you look at the top NASCAR betting sites.
If you want some insight as to how to bet on this week’s race, check out Adam Haynes’ 2021 Firekeepers Casino 400 betting picks.
For the daily fantasy side of things, I’ll go over my three favorite NASCAR DFS picks, as well as my top lineup.
Joey Logano ($9.6k)
Too cheap. Logano is extremely discounted for his talent and 2021 form. He has 16 finishes inside the top-10 this year, he has a win, and he also won at this very race in 2019.
In all seriousness, I know he’s cooled off a bit (34th and 22nd in his last two races), but he finished 4th at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, and things getting back to a more traditional setting could be good for him.
Logano knows this race, he’s better than he’s run, and he’s a nice price. Oh, and starting out of the 19th slot gives us way too much wiggle room for a driver of this caliber. Sign me up.
Bubba Wallace ($6.4k)
We need to get some value from somewhere in this race. I think a punt (or two) is in play, and Wallace stands out on price alone.
It’s also worth noting that his recent form isn’t half bad. He’s had some duds, but he also has done this over his last seven events.
At this price, that will do.
Oh, and he finished inside the top-10 the last time he competed in this race.
Wallace is rarely sexy when filling out NASCAR DFS lineups, but he makes some sense here.
Kevin Harvick ($10k)
Harvick is a dinosaur in an increasingly younger field of elite NASCAR drivers, but he’s still an effective one.
The ageless legend has dominated at this track, too, as he’s racked up four wins and six top-10 runs over his last six trips to Michigan International Speedway.
Harvick is also the reigning champ here, having won in 2020.
The 2021 tape looks good, too. Harvick hasn’t won a race yet, but he’s come close, and he’s been ultra competitive with 17 cracks inside the top-10.
He’s been plenty solid of late, finishing 14th or better in each of his last four events, as well.
The wins aren’t there, but this may be the track where we go hard at Harvick (and hope others shy away).
Top NASCAR DFS Lineup for Sunday, August 22
- Joey Logano ($9.6k)
- Bubba Wallace ($6.4k)
- Kevin Harvick ($10k)
- Erik Jones ($6.2k)
- Alex Bowman ($8.8k)
- Ryan Blaney ($9k)
There are obvious reasons to fall head over heels for Logano and Harvick, and Bubba is at the very worst a fantastic punt.
That trio of daily fantasy NASCAR picks feels like a good core to me, but then what? I think wrapping things up with another nice punt in Erik Jones makes sense, while Alex Bowman and Ryan Blaney get you two more studs that can win this thing.
Am I ga-ga about Jones? No, but he’s a talented driver that flashed his upside with a 7th place finish last week at the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.
It hasn’t been an amazing season for Jones, but he’s done a solid job at this track. With top-18 runs in six of his eight appearances here, I think he is a viable sleeper pick.
Two punts really open things up in terms of salary this weekend, so I like the idea of going and getting Bowman.
Judging by his 2021 campaign, he’s a decent bet to reverse course here. Bowman has three wins and 14 finishes inside the top-10, while he’s just two races removed from one of those top-10 runs.
I also can afford Blaney, who starts up front in the third slot this weekend. That can be scary, but we’re talking about an amazing driver who has dazzled lately.
Remove a 14th place finish two weeks ago, and he’s cracked the top-5 in three of his last four events.
Blaney has been fantastic overall in 2021 (14 runs inside the top-10), and he’s got a win under his belt.
On top of that, Blaney has excelled at this track.
Betting on the 2021 Firekeepers Casino 400
Building NASCAR DFS lineups and betting on the races isn’t always going to be the same, but as I’ve said a lot this season, it still can be.
I’ve hit on some winners – and several that have come close – and the idea is always to get a winner in NASCAR DFS. If you agree, you can parlay my daily fantasy NASCAR picks into some winning bets, too.
If you want to bet on NASCAR ahead of Sunday’s race, I am loving these picks for this weekend.
- Kevin Harvick (+900)
- Alex Bowman (+1400)
- Joey Logano (+1600)
- Ryan Blaney (+1800)
NASCAR may be too volatile to put all of your eggs in the Kyle Larson basket- especially at that +275 price tag. Kyle Busch and others are plenty viable and offer a bit more bang for your buck, but it only gets super interesting to me when I look at Harvick.
I get it, the others have better odds for a reason. However, for DFS, my picks are likely going to be a bit lower owned, and for betting, the upside is clear.
I’m just one voice when it comes to NASCAR betting and DFS picks, of course. Hit up the Adam Haynes betting preview linked above, and stop by our NASCAR betting picks page for all auto racing odds and insight.
