Prediction for Cubs vs. White Sox – Saturday, May 28th, 2022
The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will reignite their rivalry with a matchup on Saturday night. This will be the third of four matchups of the season. The White Sox scored a pair of road victories over the Cubs in early May.
Neither team has been impressive in 2022. The White Sox are .500, while the Cubs have the third-worst record in the NL. Can they turn things around against the White Sox?
Take a look at the odds for the Cubs vs. White Sox.
Cubs vs. White Sox Odds for May 28th
The top online MLB betting sites have the Chicago White Sox as a slight favorite. Honestly, I would’ve expected a larger spread, considering the White Sox are the better team and playing at home.
There isn’t a stark difference between the two teams with the spread. The Chicago Cubs are 23-21, while the White Sox are 21-23. There is a bigger discrepancy with the run total.
Unfortunately, the Cubs could be without two of their top offensive players. Nick Madrigal hasn’t played since May 9 as he’s dealing with a back injury. Seiya Suzuki left Thursday’s game with a finger injury.
The White Sox offense continues to operate without Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert. Yoan Moncada missed Thursday’s game, but he should be good for Saturday.

Cubs vs. White Sox Breakdown
The Chicago Cubs didn’t have high expectations ahead of the 2022 season. Their roster no longer featured Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, and Javier Baez. Ultimately, those losses have caught up with the Cubs.
Lately, we’ve seen an inconsistent Cubs team. Their last 12 games feature a four-game win streak and a four-game losing streak. The Cubs suffered a rough 20-5 loss on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds.
The Chicago White Sox have been better, but their 22-22 record isn’t what we expected. Tim Anderson and Luis Robert are the only players in their offense to produce.
|Tim Anderson||Luis Robert|
Robert recently went on the COVID-19 injured list. It’ll be a significant loss considering the updated 2022 AL MVP odds have Robert in the top 10. We’ll need to see more from Jose Abreu, Yoan Moncada, and more.
Surprisingly, the Cubs’ offense has been decent. They rank just outside the top 10 with 192 runs. Patrick Wisdom has a low batting average, but he paces the team with ten home runs. Ian Happ leads the team with a .275 batting average and 25 RBIs.
The Cubs will have Keegan Thompson on the mound, while the White Sox counter with recent signing Johnny Cueto. Cueto hasn’t made the All-Star game since 2016, but he looked impressive through two starts.
- 12.0 innings
- 8 hits
- 0 runs
- 4 walks
- 12 strikeouts
He shut down the New York Yankees in Sunday’s victory. Theoretically, he should have an easier matchup with the Cubs. Thompson has only started in two of his ten appearances, but he’s been impressive with a 1.54 ERA.
This has the looks of a matchup that will come down to a clutch base hit. Who will step up when it matters most?
Cubs vs. White Sox Same Game Parlay
- Christopher Morel to Record a Hit (-220)
- Tim Anderson to Record 2+ Hits (+160)
- Patrick Wisdom to Record an RBI (+180)
My same game parlay for the Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox features perhaps the best hitter in the AL. Let’s see how Tim Anderson and others can help you cash in on Saturday’s game.
Christopher Morel isn’t a household name, but the 22-year-old is making a name for himself. Morel has played in nine career games, recording a hit in eight games. He is coming off a 2-5 game with a double and run.
We know the Cubs need all the help they can get. Morel hasn’t received much attention, but it’s only a matter of time before more people talk about him. He should pick up another base hit on Saturday.
Anderson continues to lead the White Sox offense while producing the second-highest batting average in the majors. Anderson has been especially impressive in his last seven games.
- 1 home run
- 7 RBIs
He has been on a tear, raising his batting average from .328 to .363. Anderson has 2+ hits in six of his last seven games. It’d be easy to have him recording a hit, but we have to back the value with him recording multiple hits.
Last week, you could argue that Patrick Wisdom was the hottest player in baseball. He went 7-20 with four home runs and six RBIs in a five-game stretch. Wisdom looks poised to build off a strong 2021 season.
Wisdom is coming off back-to-back hitless games, but he should bounce back against Johnny Cueto. In their lone matchup, Wisdom went 2-2 with two home runs. He should have a strong chance to record an RBI.
Cubs vs. White Sox Pick
The Chicago Cubs head into this matchup as the underdog, but I like their chances to take down the Chicago White Sox.
This pick is more about my lack of faith in the White Sox. They’re capable of defeating the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, but then they allow 32 runs in two games against the Red Sox. The inconsistency has me favoring the value in this matchup.
