Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas – April 10, 2021

| April 8, 2021 9:02 am PDT

Conor Benn’s odds to beat Samuel Vargas in London on Saturday, April 10, suggest that this one could be an easy win for the Brit.

However, not everyone betting on Benn vs. Vargas is looking at this one as a cakewalk for the son of the legendary world champion, Nigel. If “The Destroyer” is to emulate his old man on the world stage, the next few fights will be crucial.

Benn (17-0) puts his WBA Continental (Europe) welterweight title on the line this weekend against Vargas (31-6-2), who represents the 24-year-old’s toughest test to date.

I’ve made my predictions and betting pick for Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas, and will be covering the odds for the fight, too. If you’re looking for betting tips for Benn vs. Vargas or are simply hoping to win money on the best bets for the fight, I’ve got you covered.

Who Wins the Benn vs. Vargas Fight?

  • Benn to Win by Decision

Those gambling on Conor Benn to beat Samuel Vargas can add me to the list of faithful.

With that said, I’m not entirely sure that I’m keen on Benn’s odds, even if I am confident that the rapidly improving Englishman will come away with the all-important victory.

Benn is still cooking, so there is potential for a shock in this fight. But as I’ll explain a little later, his quality and style should see him over the line on Saturday night.

I’d suggest playing it smart if you are wagering on this fight. I’m not sold on the idea that it will be an imperial performance by the Brit and believe he is a little overpriced right now. I’ve laid out the best odds for Benn vs. Vargas in the form of the choice bets for the fight below. Let’s move on to those.

Best Bets for Benn vs. Vargas

  • Benn by Decision
  • Fight Over 7.5 Rounds

I discussed Benn vs. Vargas betting tips and gambling angles with a friend of mine earlier this week.

Although we didn’t agree on a few minor details of this fight, we held a similar outlook on the top bets for Benn vs. Vargas.

First, Conor Benn to win by decision seems to make the most sense. That is until you think about the Over/Under for Benn vs. Vargas, which should sit at the 7.5 round mark. This one will go the distance, in my opinion, as I explain below.

Why Benn Beats Vargas

If we’re talking about the best young boxers in the world right now, Benn isn’t quite in the same class as the likes of Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson, or Ryan Garcia.

However, the Brit is certainly a much-improved fighter with the tools to take the Colombian to the cards and leave the “W.”

Stylistically, he’s going to need to lean on his boxing abilities to get this one in the bag against a very tricky and experienced veteran. I’m predicting that Vargas tries to pressure him for the first two rounds, but only for Benn to get his reads right and comfortably operate in the center of the ring.

Although the main man in this bout has 11 knockouts from his 17 wins as a pro, my Benn vs. Vargas predictions do not culminate in a stoppage win for the younger man. Yes, Vargas has been knocked out three times in the paid ranks. But Errol Spence Jr., Danny Garcia, and Vergil Ortiz Jr. all pack more pop than Benn.

Vargas can cause an upset. We saw what he did to Amir Khan and know he has been in there with some monsters over the years. But Benn seems to be catching him at the right time and should edge it with the judges.

Ergo, I’m dodging Benn by KO and going for a unanimous decision victory.
