Sun vs. Wings WNBA Prediction – Tuesday, July 5, 2022

| July 5, 2022 8:09 am PDT

The Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings will have their final game ahead of the 2022 All-Star break on Tuesday night. Connecticut is within striking distance of the league’s best record, while Dallas holds the final playoff spot.

The Wings scored an impressive early-season victory over the Sun, but the tone quickly changed as they suffered a 31-point loss on May 26. How will that affect your Sun vs. Wings pick?

Connecticut should open as the favorite, but how big of an advantage will they have? Take a look at the Sun vs. Wings betting odds.

Sun vs. Wings Odds for July 5th

Sportsbook Connecticut Sun Dallas Wings Bonus Offered
Bovada (-240) (+200) 50% up to $250
BetOnline (-240) (+200) 60% up to $1,000
BetUS (-240) (+200) 125% up to $2,500
MyBookie (-200) (+170) 100% up to $1,000

We know where to bet if you want to take the Connecticut Sun. MyBookie doesn’t have as much faith in the Sun, giving them a five-point advantage. Bovada has the spread at (-5.5), with BetOnline and BetUS at six.

Connecticut hasn’t been strong against the spread lately, failing to cover in four of their last five games. Coincidentally, the Dallas Wings are also 1-4 against the spread in their previous five games.

The sportsbooks have a consensus with the point total opening at 165.

The Sun have been a low-scoring team, going under their point total in seven of their last nine games. It’s a similar story for the Wings, as they’ve gone under in four of their last five games. What will that do for your Sun vs. Wings prediction?

Connecticut continues to operate without Jasmine Thomas. She tore her ACL in late May, forcing her to miss the remainder of the 2022 season.

Sun vs. Wings Preview

The Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings had an impressive start to the 2022 season. We expected the Sun to be a contender, but the Wings surprised many people. Connecticut has maintained its strong start, but Dallas is 4-10 since a 5-2 start.

Their rough stretch began with a loss to the Sun on May 26. Dallas’ schedule became much tougher, but we’ve seen their defense struggle. They’ve allowed 83+ points in 10 of their last 14 games.

They don’t have a great offense, but they boast one of the best players in Arike Ogunbowale.

Ogunbowale is having a great season, but who else will step up? My Sun vs. Wings pick tonight needs to see support from elsewhere before backing Dallas. She can’t beat the Sun by herself.

Connecticut has been much more balanced this season. They’re the only WNBA team with a top-three offense and defense. Lately, we haven’t seen their offense play at a high level. The Sun have cleared 80 points once in their last five games.

It’ll be interesting to see how Jonquel Jones performs. Last year’s MVP hasn’t been as strong this season, but she recently had one of her best games.

  • 24 points
  • 11 rebounds
  • 5 steals
  • 10-23 field goal shooting

I spotlighted Jones in my breakdown of the 2022 WNBA MVP odds. She wasn’t a significant factor in Connecticut’s first two matchups with Dallas. My free Sun vs. Wings pick takes that into consideration.

The first two matchups couldn’t have been more different. Dallas had an impressive 85-77 victory with a big second half, but Connecticut dominated the second matchup, winning 99-68.

Does your Sun vs. Wings betting pick feature a close game? I’m not sure how many people will value two matchups from May for their Sun vs. Wings prediction.

Sun vs. Wings Game Props

  • Connecticut Sun First Team to Reach 20 Points (-180)
  • Connecticut Sun Over 84.5 Points (-110)
  • Dallas Wings Under 40.5 First Half Points (-120)

Feel free to examine my top game props if you don’t like the Sun vs. Wings odds.

The Connecticut Sun enter this matchup as the better offensive team. Typically, I like the home team for the 20-point prop, but that hasn’t been an issue for the Sun in their first two matchups.

Connecticut held a 21-14 lead on the road against the Dallas Wings. It was worse in the second matchup, as they led 20-9. My free Sun vs. Wings pick feels confident with this selection. Do you have faith in the Sun being the first team to 20 points?

I’m backing the Sun to reach 20 points ahead of the Wings. Why not keep it going with the Sun going over 84.5 points? We know Connecticut’s offense has struggled, but what about Dallas’ defense?

Dallas allowed 92 and 97 points, respectively, in their last two games. They played a pair of solid offenses but they don’t compare to the Sun. It’s only a matter of time before Connecticut breaks out of its offensive slump.

My Sun vs. Wings pick today hasn’t talked much about the Wings. Let’s talk about why they won’t hit their first-half point total.

The Wings have struggled in the first half against the Sun. They scored 27 and 35 points, respectively, in the first two matchups. Connecticut’s defense continues to operate at a high level.

It’ll be tough to clear 40.5 points in the first half against this tough defense. A slow start should doom their hopes. Is that an indication of my Sun vs. Wings betting pick?

Sun vs. Wings Pick

My Pick: Connecticut Sun to Win (-200)Bet on the Sun at MyBookie

My Connecticut Sun vs. Dallas Wings expert pick shouldn’t come as a surprise. I’ve been showing my faith in the Sun while doubting the Wings’.

Connecticut has struggled on offense, but its defense remains among the best in the league. That should propel them to a victory over Dallas. I considered taking the Wings at (+6.0), but I’m taking the safe route.

Facebook will have coverage of Tuesday night’s game at 8 p.m. ET. Check out the best betting apps for basketball to wager on the WNBA.
