Complexity vs. OG Pick – Wednesday, August 12th, 2020

| August 12, 2020 1:00 am PDT

It’s time to focus on the Winners’ Match in Group B of the 2020 DreamHack Open: Europe event.

A big derby awaits us today as top organizations Complexity Gaming and OG go head-to-head to determine who will take one of the three remaining playoff spots.

Captain blameF and his captain came out on top the last time and all the top rated CS:GO betting sites have pinned them as the favorite here but can Aleksib’s French squad outwit them this time?

In my Complexity vs. OG betting preview for Wednesday, I try to answer this question by reviewing the latest odds and sharing an account of the teams’ most recent exploits.

There is also a free betting pick for you in the end, so don’t go anywhere!

Complexity vs. OG Odds

I kick things off with the current prices for the most popular betting markets.

The ones below are courtesy of BetOnline:

Match Winner

Complexity -182
OG +130

Maps Handicap

Complexity (-1.5) +160
OG (+1.5) -250

Maps Total

Over 2.5 -112
Under 2.5 -143

And there you have it. As I already mentioned, Complexity is the firm favorite here but is backing them to win outright the best option?

Let’s check out the organizations’ recent form and figure out where the true betting value lies.

Complexity Current Form

The break did not come at the best of times for Complexity as the team was simply killing it.

We always knew that Danish in-game leader blameF had a higher gear but the most recent tournaments this roster contested showed that players oBo, poizon, RUSH, and k0nfig can also mix it up with the elite.

Their return to action wasn’t as dominant but they still managed to overcome forZe in three rounds.

The worrying part was that they couldn’t really get a hold of proceedings on their Map pick Mirage and eventually lost out in overtime.

Captain blameF and oBo were looking sharp but the way RUSH handled the entry-fragger role gave a lot of openings to the Russians and that is something that the team will surely need to address if they want to go all the way.

OG Current Form

The Frenchmen had a similar start to their DreamHack Summer campaign.

They locked horns with another top Russian outfit Spirit and immediately clicked to give themselves as 12:3 advantage on Dust II.

Aleksib’s famous defensive tactics were on display again in what was probably the most impressive opening fixture performance at the event.

However, the inevitable rustiness came in the second map where Spirit’s ultra-offensive tactics as terrorists ran OG to the ground on the Frenchmen’s map pick Mirage.

Another good defensive showing on Nuke clinched the win for OG in the end but there are still a lot of things to iron out and not a lot of time to do it.

Losing today will not see them exit the tournament but anything can happen in a decider match and OG surely doesn’t want to be in such a situation this early in the tournament.

Complexity vs. OG Prediction and Pick

The tie promises to be yet another thrilling encounter between two very different styles.

I feel the key pieces on both sides will show up today and the devil will be in the details.

Complexity managed to overcome RUSH’s poor performance against forZe but they will definitely need their entry-fragger in good shape today if they are to break down OG’s tough defense.

Vertigo and Overpass should be off the table and Complexity has an edge on most of the other maps.

I was entertaining the idea of backing them to get a 2:0 win but it’s a big risk given how the team is still finding its rhythm.

OG has a good chance to do well on their map pick, but I believe they will eventually fall to Complexity’s superior firepower, so I’m going with an outright win for the favorites.
