Colorado Rapids vs. LAFC – MLS, October 7, 2020

| October 6, 2020 10:27 am PDT

Colorado Rapids welcome LAFC to DSG Park on Wednesday, October 7, with both sides having won two of their previous three MLS games.

Following a shaky start to the season for both teams, it finally feels like Colorado and LAFC are settling into 2020. The Los Angeles club sits two points ahead of the Rapids in the Western Conference, although Colorado has two games in hand over the Black & Gold.

This is set to be an interesting matchup between two in-form sides. You can find my Colorado Rapids vs. LAFC prediction and betting pick below.

Colorado Rapids vs. LAFC Odds

Colorado Rapids to Win 2.60
The Draw 4.00
LAFC to Win 2.30

10bet views LAFC as the slight favorite to win this game, but the narrow odds gap suggests that Colorado won’t make life easy for the defending Supporters’ Shield champion on Wednesday.

Despite a recent upturn in form for both teams, neither side has been able to establish a rhythm this year. Therefore, the inconsistency of both clubs makes this clash very tough to call.

Colorado Rapids vs. LAFC Preview

If you had told Robin Fraser that his side would only be two points behind LAFC after 13 games this year, the Colorado manager would have been a happy man. We all know that LAFC has struggled this season, but let’s not take anything away from the Rapids.

After bowing out of the MLS is Back Tournament with just a single point to their name, Colorado returned to regular-season action with a heavy 4-1 defeat to Real Salt Lake. But since then, the Commerce City club has only lost one of their last seven outings.

The Rapids got their revenge over RSL by thumping the Utah team 5-0 last month, and Fraser’s men come into this clash having crushed San Jose Earthquakes by the same scoreline. Throw a comfortable 2-0 victory over LA Galaxy into the mix, and Colorado has won three of their previous four games.

19-year-old Cole Bassett continues to enhance his glowing reputation. The teenage sensation has racked up four goals and three assists in his past seven appearances.

LAFC has also recorded a number of high-scoring wins recently. The Black & Gold saw off Portland Timbers 4-2 last month before hammering Vancouver Whitecaps 6-0. However, last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake was a real turning point.

The Los Angeles club had lost each of their previous four away games before Sunday’s victory against RSL. It is no secret that Bob Bradley’s men have struggled on their travels this season, but it felt like they turned a corner last time out.

LAFC may have lost six of their ten games since the MLS is Back Tournament, but the team has won three of their last five by an aggregate scoreline of 13-3.

Colorado Rapids vs. LAFC Pick

  • LAFC to Win

Given Colorado’s recent resurgence, I almost went for the draw here. But LAFC doesn’t do draws. The Black & Gold’s record of W4-D0-L6 since the regular season resumed suggests there will be a winner on Wednesday.

And having taken everything into consideration, I believe the winner will be LAFC. I’ve been hugely impressed the with Rapids of late, but Bradley’s men have shown plenty of signs that they’re getting back to their best.
