Upset Picks for This Week’s College Football Games – October 31, 2020

| October 28, 2020 1:11 am PDT

My mission of finding a trio of college football upset picks to latch onto each week rolls on. After producing a couple of winners last weekend, I even have a few extra bucks to spare.

We see underdogs win all the time on Saturdays – the goal is to pinpoint three of those occasions before the fact.

Easier said than done, but’s let’s give it a go.

Baylor Bears (+115)

Are the Bears bound to lose their third consecutive game and fall to 1-3 in the Big 12 play? Just one year after winning 11 games and appearing in the Sugar Bowl?

The best college football betting sites think so, but I disagree. As does ESPN’s Matchup Predictor which pegged Baylor to win this game outright in nearly 54% of simulations.

The Bears sustained back-to-back losses and are scuffling on offense, but don’t hit the panic button just yet.

Both of those losses were on the road – one in Morgantown, and one in Austin. Heading home to Waco to square against the 1-3 Horned Frogs gives Dave Aranda a golden opportunity to right the ship and get back to .500. Charlie Brewer played his best game of the season last weekend versus the Longhorns and should be able to eat up a TCU defense that just got shredded by Spencer Rattler.

Look for Baylor to pull this one out at McLane Stadium.

Louisville Cardinals (+145)

After struggling out of the gates, Louisville looks like a team on the rise. They narrowly lost on the road to Notre Dame (12-7) before blasting Florida State, 48-16. Micale Cunningham looked sharp and the Cardinals ground attack went bonkers.

37 carries for 291 yards and four touchdowns to be more specific.

Not exactly good news for a Hokies program that is searching for playmakers. Virginia Tech surrendered 656 yards and 56 points to the Tar Heels and Hendon Hooker is coming off throwing three interceptions at Wake Forest.

Tutu Atwell should be able to make his presence felt in open space while Javion Hawkins looks to build on his 693 rushing yards (3rd in FBS). All in all, that +145 price tag attached to Louisville at BetNow looks awfully appetizing. Easily one of the top upset picks for college football this Saturday.

Temple Owls (+155)

Staying on the theme of attacking college football upset picks on Halloween, we could see some “spooky” activity take place Saturday afternoon in the Big Easy. The Green Wave are lurking as a 3.5/4-point favorite at most of the trusted sportsbooks, but don’t lose sight of the fact that Vegas opened this game as a Pick’Em.

Temple’s passing attack is legit – led by senior QB Anthony Russo who has tossed four TD passes in back-to-back games. The Owls have three receivers who can be relied on heavily and now get a crack at a secondary that is allowing over 324 passing yards per game through their first six contests.

Just how real are the deficiencies of Tulane’s defense?

Know that they’ve given up 1,746 yards during their current three-game skid.

Too many things could go wrong for the Green Wave in this one – back Temple to emerge.
