Upset Picks for This Week’s College Football Games – October 10, 2020

Expectations must be tempered after securing the hat trick with last week’s college football upset picks. I’m not going to go 3-0 in NCAAF underdog bets week in and week out, but I’m sure as heck going to try.

Moving into the October 10^th slate of games, I spotted three more matchups I was excited to lock in.

Coastal Carolina manhandled Kansas as a six-point dog. The Chanticleers closed as a 3.5-point underdog last week against Arkansas State – only to throttle the Red Wolves 52-23. Nevertheless, Coastal Carolina continues to be disrespected by all of the top sportsbooks in the US.

I love CCU +7 but also think there’s a legitimate shot that Grayson McCall can go into Lafayette and storm out with a W.

The redshirt freshman has quickly asserted himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Sun Belt Conference, while tight end Isaiah Likely has already flashed his big-play potential. It’s a bit of a reach going into Cajun Field, but the +230 odds make it worth it. This is the first of my college football upset picks for this week.

First of all, the matchup predictor on ESPN says that Syracuse wins this game outright 56.8% of the time. The ’Cuse just lit up Georgia Tech, plus this game is being played inside the Carrier Dome. Oh yeah, and Duke is 0-4 losing by an average of 14.8 points per game.

Blue Devils QB Chase Brice has been absolutely dreadful (52.6% completion rate, 3 TDs, 7 INT) and Duke’s defense has allowed at least 26 points in each of the four games they have played.

Brice might be able to get away with making poor decisions against certain opponents. It’s not going to fly against Dino Babers and company. The Orange lead the nation in interceptions and are tops in the ACC in turnover differential.

Syracuse is hanging out at +105 to win this game at some sites, but you’ll find added incentive at BetNow.

Mike Leach and company let me down last week when they laid an egg at home versus Arkansas. Heading to Lexington where Leach was once served as the offensive coordinator, look for the Bulldogs to get back on track.

The Wildcats want to run the football and keep K.J. Costello on the sidelines for as long as possible. The issue is MSU is terrific against the run yielding just 71.5 ground yards per game. When push comes to shove and points need to be scored, Kentucky lacks the explosion necessary to hang with Mississippi State.

At +110 to win the game, this isn’t a college football upset pick that requires us to go way out on a limb. We’re just targeting the team with the higher ceiling, and they just so happen to be priced as the underdog.
