Predictions and Picks for College Basketball – March 3rd, 2022
There is a ton of college basketball going on today, but we don’t have any Top 25 games on until 7:00 p.m ET. That gives us some time to prepare for these games and maybe even watch them if we get time tonight.
We have some games that could be blowouts, which is natural when you have some of the best teams in the league playing. But anything is possible in college basketball, so don’t count out those underdogs.
Let’s take a look at the odds for the 6 games for the ranked college basketball teams for today.

With March Madness approaching, don’t count out these underdogs too. We have seen some crazier upsets throughout NCAA basketball history.
Houston and Illinois are pretty heavy favorites over their opponents today. That’s not a huge surprise considering they are 14th and 20th ranked respectively and Temple and Penn State haven’t been great this year.
6th ranked Kansas will be taking on TCU at home. TCU is 19-9 while Kansas is an impressive 23-6 on the year.
Our highest scoring projected game of the top 25 games today is the Iowa and Michigan game at 155 total points. Michigan is the 2 point favorite which is a surprise considering Iowa is the ranked team and Michigan is just 16-12 on the year.
Iowa has struggled on the road this year (5-5), so Michigan can prove that they are up to the task today.
Arizona is the 2nd ranked team in the country and takes on the struggling Cardinals at 15-13. Arizona also has yet to lose at home this year, while Stanford is an unimpressive 3-7 on the road.
Predictions for College Basketball on March 3rd
- Temple to Cover vs. Houston
- Penn State to Cover vs. Illinois
- Ohio State to Cover vs. Michigan State
- TCU to Cover vs. Kansas
- Iowa to Cover vs. Michigan
- Arizona to Cover vs. Stanford
I don’t like a lot of the favorites to cover their huge spreads today. For starters, Temple has a good chance to cover against the 14th ranked Cougars.
Houston is a solid team against the spread at 18-11 on the year, but so are the Owls at 16-10. Houston should be able to win this game, but Temple could hang with them and make it interesting.
Penn State has been awesome against ranked opponents this year ATS. They are sitting at a nice 4-1 and take on the 20th ranked Fighting Illini tonight.
Illinois has been very unimpressive ATS this year with a losing record of 13-15. Penn State could look to add another cover to their resume and play up to another ranked team.
Ohio State might get Zed Key back tonight after missing their last game. However, if he doesn’t suit up I am not a huge fan of the Buckeyes tonight. They are coming off a terrible loss to the 9-21 Cornhuskers and have been struggling lately.

TCU actually just beat Kansas straight up in their last game. They get a 11.5 point spread in their favor tonight, so at least covering is very possible.
Arizona is the second ranked team in the country for a reason. They are undefeated at home and Stanford is 5-10 ATS this year.
Best Bets for College Basketball on 3/3/2022
- Penn State +12.5 (-110)
- TCU +11.5 (-105)
- Arizona -18.5 (-110)
These are my top bets for tonight that I feel the best about. Penn State has held more than their own against ranked opponents against the spread. With how bad Illinois has been ATS this year in general, I find them hard to trust in this game.
Penn State and Ohio State are both teams who lost to the Cornhuskers in their last games. That should actually sharpen them up and motivate them to get back in the groove tonight.
TCU has been hot and beating Kansas was impressive in their last game. Kansas is tough to beat and even harder after a loss. I think Kansas wins this one, but taking the points here makes a lot of sense.
Arizona is one of the best teams in the country and got a pretty easy game at home tonight against Stanford. They’ll be on ESPN2 and will be wanting to keep their undefeated streak at home alive. Stanford hasn’t covered against a whole lot of teams in general, so they could be trampled tonight if they aren’t perfect.
Just because Penn State and Ohio State just lost to a bad team in Nebraska in their recent games doesn’t mean that they can’t bounce back tonight in a major way.
