Cleveland Indians vs. Detroit Tigers Pick – August 15, 2020

| August 15, 2020 1:19 am PDT

The Cleveland Indians suffered a couple of defeats to the Chicago Cubs in the previous series at home and scored just three runs in the process. They are hoping for a way better outcome in this series against the Tigers.

With those two losses, the Indians dropped to a 10-9 record and 4th place in the AL Central, with a bit worse record than Detroit.

The Detroit Tigers were in a fine form of four consecutive wins, sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates along the way, but they lost the last two games to the Chicago White Sox at home.

Still, they are in the 2nd position in the AL Central with a 9-7 record and three games in hand opposite the Minnesota Twins.

These divisional foes have not met this season yet, but the Indians are dominating H2H duels of late as they won each of the previous 17 meetings! The second game of this series is hours away, so check out my Indians vs. Tigers betting prediction.

Indians vs. Tigers Odds

Indians -1.5 -110
Tigers +1.5 -110
Indians to Win -180
Tigers to Win +170
Over 8 -110
Under 8 -110

The Indians are favorites in this encounter for a couple of reasons. They are invincible in the last 17 H2H meetings and that’s why the sportsbooks are favoring them here, but when we take the pitching matchup into consideration, we can find another reason for the favorite tag.

Low-scoring games are often when these two rivals meet, so you can consider backing Under in this one. If you prefer betting on other markets than the ones offered here, feel free to visit these leading baseball betting sites for additional odds and markets.

Indians vs. Tigers Preview

Shane Bieber (3-0) will get the start for the Indians as he is looking for another commanding performance and fourth win in his fifth start.

Biber has been fantastic so far in the season, allowing only 16 hits and five runs in 27.2 innings with 1.63 ERA and 0.76 WHIP, 43 strikeouts, and five walks. He faced the Tigers twice last year and secured both wins.

Jonathan Schoop and JaCoby Jones will be Bieber’s biggest threats here; they combined for 30 hits and nine home runs so far.

On the other hand, Spencer Turnbull is starting for the Tigers – his fourth of the season. Turnbull has a 2-0 record at the moment, 2.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP as he allowed 11 hits and four runs with 18 strikeouts and seven walks in 18 innings. He met the Indians on six occasions last year and suffered even five defeats, without a victory.

Cesar Hernandez, Jose Ramirez, Franmil Reyes, Francisco Lindor, and Carlos Santana will all be breathing on Turnbull’s neck in this one. This quintet of batters combined for 84 hits and ten homers this season.

Indians vs. Tigers Pick

It’s clear that this matchup suits Shane Bieber and the Indians, while that’s definitely not the case with Spencer Turnbull, who never recorded a win against Cleveland. The fact that the Indians are on a 17-game winning run over Detroit is another reason to back the visitors here, and I cannot ignore all of these facts and stats.

I am going with Cleveland to win. Both pitchers are playing very well right now, so I don’t expect to see a lot of hits and runs. My additional pick for this game would be Under.
