Prediction and Top Betting Picks for Chris Colbert vs. Tugstsogt Nyambayar – July 3, 2021
With Yuriorkis Gamboa’s withdrawal, Tugstsogt Nyambayar steps in on short notice to take on Chris Colbert for the WBA interim super featherweight title on July 3.
I’ll be talking about the odds and best bets for Colbert vs. Nyambayar in this betting preview of the fight set to go down this Saturday at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The bout serves as the main event of Showtime’s first major card of the month.
Boxing betting sites make the unbeaten American the favorite, and I’ll be discussing the value in Colbert’s odds to beat Nyambayar a little later. I’ll also provide an analysis of the fight and a little insight into how both men match up.
Oh, and of course, I’ll be making my Colbert vs. Nyambayar predictions and betting pick for anyone looking to wager on the fight.
Colbert or Nyambayar – Who Wins?
- Chris Colbert by Decision
Nyambayar (12-1, 9 KOs) is coming off a split decision win over Cobia Breedy in September. That win followed a knockout loss against Gary Russell Jr. for the American’s WBC featherweight strap.
All in all, the Mongolian has shown some promise, but he might struggle with the size difference and a lack of a full training camp.
Colbert (15-0, 6 KOs) will likely have a tough test on his hands, but his apparent lack of stopping power makes the decision the most likely result in this fight.
I’ll get to more about my betting pick for Colbert vs. Nyambayar and some other predictions for the fight.
Before we do that, let’s see the line for the fight and talk about some bets.

In terms of value, I’m not crazy about Colbert’s moneyline odds. Even though he should have too much for the Mongolian, it won’t be an absolute walkover. But the win looks a sure thing.
With that said, Nyambayar is not the most appealing betting pick here.
I’m not keen on taking him on the line, given that he will step into the ropes with disadvantages in skill, reach (five inches), and, of course, without a full camp.
As much as I admire Colbert’s desire to score a stoppage, I can’t see it happening.
Best Bets for Colbert vs. Nyambayar
- Colbert to Win
- Colbert to Win by Decision
- Fight Over 9.5 Rounds
I have put together three top bets for Colbert-Nyambayar.
Even though I’m not in love with Colbert’s odds to win, they are still decent odds for most bettors looking to add him to their parlay.
Unfortunately, the odds for the American to win by decision and for the fight to go over the 9.5 round mark are unavailable at the time of writing. Still, they are certainly worth looking at when the prop markets open.
Let’s move on to a little more around my predictions and betting pick for Colbert vs. Nyambayar.
Why Colbert Beats Nyambayar
There is no doubt in my mind that Chris Colbert is the better boxer in this fight.
The rising star should go on to better things after this one, but let’s be honest; he’s not exactly known for his power. Much like Devin Haney, his ability to dominate his weight class might be hampered by this lack of pop.
But against Nyambayar, he is going to love the opportunities that will come his way. Because, well, there will be multiple openings for the American to showcase his slick skills and shot selection. His movement will be key to creating these chances against a guy that doesn’t tend to move with much fluidity.
If you’re looking to gamble on the fight, here are a few predictions for Colbert vs. Nyambayar to keep in mind.
One, he’s almost certainly going to exploit the fact that “King Tug” will not be sharp. The latter rounds will, therefore, be where the American gets most of his business done. Two, it will be a slow burner. Three, Nyambayar will be looking for the stoppage.
But don’t expect a knockout here. Although there are similarities between Colbert and Gary Russell Jr. — the only man to both beat and stop Nyambayar — Russell has more power in his fists.
I’m predicting a clear win by decision for Colbert.
Wrapping It Up
That’s pretty much it for my predictions and pick for Colbert vs. Nyambayar this Saturday.
The clash of styles here should make for a good fight to watch, but I’m ultimately expecting a dominant performance from the American. I’m not keen on a knockout, however. So, in that sense, it doesn’t promise the same kind of fireworks as betting on Fury vs. Wilder 3 will.
