Chinese Super League Predictions and Best Bets – Tuesday, August 25, 2020

| August 24, 2020 12:37 pm PDT

It’s top vs. bottom in Group A on Tuesday as high-flying Guangzhou Evergrande visits struggling Dalian Pro. In total, there are two Chinese Super League games taking place on August 25.

Let’s start by checking out Tuesday’s fixture list.

  • Guangzhou R&F vs. Shandong Luneng
  • Dalian Pro vs. Guangzhou Evergrande

The early kickoff sees second-place Shandong Luneng travel to Guangzhou R&F, with the Blue Lions trailing Shandong by six points. In the late kickoff, winless Dalin Pro faces defending champion Guangzhou Evergrande.

It’s safe to say we’ve got two thrilling matchups in store on August 25. I share my predictions for Tuesday’s Chinese Super League games before covering the best value bets for both ties.

Shandong Lenung to Beat Guangzhou R&F

Shandong made a shaky start to the 2020 campaign, winning just one of their opening three outings. But three straight victories have propelled the Jinan outfit to second in Group A. Li Xiaopeng’s side kicked off their hot streak with an impressive win over group-leader Guangzhou Evergrande before seeing off Shenzhen and Henan Jianye.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous goalscoring opportunities, Shandong left it late to secure all three points against Henan last time out. Former Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini netted a last-gasp penalty, taking his tally for the season to four goals following an opening-day hat-trick.

It feels like Guangzhou R&F’s campaign has followed a similar pattern to that of Shandong’s, although Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men still find themselves in the bottom half of the standings. The Guangdong club was winless after the first four matchdays but comes into this game on the back of consecutive victories.

The Blue Lions raced into an unexpected three-goal lead against Shanghai Shenhua last week and managed to survive an onslaught in the second half to hang onto the win. Eran Zahavi contributed two goals and an assist last time out. The Israeli forward has now scored four goals in his last four appearances.

R&F has done well to turn their season around recently, but Shandong should win this game.

Guangzhou Evergrande to Beat Dalian Pro

It goes without saying that anything other than a Guangzhou Evergrande win would be a colossal shock here. The South China Tigers have only lost one of their opening six games this term, taking them to the top of Group A. Meanwhile, Dalian Pro’s campaign could not have gone worse. Two points from a possible 18 have left the Liaoning club rock bottom.

Evergrande’s sole defeat in 2020 came against Shandong on Matchday 4, although it was only a narrow 1-0 loss. Other than that, Fabio Cannavaro’s men have men have pretty much destroyed everyone in their path. Last year’s champion has already crushed rival R&F 5-0 and put three goals past Shenzen and Henan.

At the other end of the standings, Dalian Pro is yet to win a game this season. Draws with Henan and Shenhua have given the team something to show for their efforts, but legendary manager Rafael Benitez must turn things around quickly if his side is to finish in the top four and qualify for the new-look championship round.

Salomon Rondon got on the scoresheet again last week, and the ex-EPL man now has five goals in six outings. But his teammates need to start chipping in. Indeed, Rondon has scored over half of his club’s goals this season.

I can see Guangzhou Evergrande heaping more misery on Dalian Pro on Tuesday. A comfortable away win is on the cards here.

Chinese Super League Picks for Tuesday, August 25

Let’s finish up by taking a look at the best value Chinese Super League bets for Tuesday’s matchups.

  • Guangzhou R&F vs. Shandong Luneng – Shandong Luneng to Win and Over 1.5 Goals (2.00)

Considering that Shandong already holds a six-point lead over R&F, odds of 1.67 for the away win are pretty good. But given that R&F has the worst defensive record in Group A, I recommend adding the over 1.5 goals market onto the Shandong win to boost the price to 2.00.

R&F has conceded 13 goals in six games this term. That’s an average of just over two goals per game. Granted, Shandong is the highest scorer. But I’m confident that the away side will be able to score at least two goals against the host’s weak defense.

  • Dalian Pro vs. Guangzhou Evergrande – Guangzhou Evergrande to Win Half Time/Full Time (2.30)

Needless to say, Evergrande is the favorite to win this one. You can get odds of 1.50 for the away win, while the home win is priced at 5.00. However, I believe backing Evergrande to win both halves is an excellent opportunity to enhance the odds for this matchup.

Evergrande has won five of their six outings this season, with Fabio Cannavaro’s men scoring in the first half on every occasion. The South China Tigers always start games strongly, and this has led to them netting 15 goals so far this term. The Evergrande win isn’t the worst bet in the world, but backing the away side to win both halves gives you a far better price.

I highly recommend wagering on the Chinese Super League with the most trustworthy online soccer betting sites.
